Explore the Simplier Things in Life

Hi you all, hope the weekend is going well for you and your staying cool. Not so good here, lol I mopped the kitchen floor yesterday and I spilled cooking oil on it last night and today I slipped a jar of strawberry jelly that we were canning on it. Guess it just didn't want to stay clean. So into the craftroom I went a bit safer for me :) I did a 2 page layout using the sketch challenge over at Stick it Down:

This is what I did with it:
out of all the photos I took the diagonal one came out the best so be it. This is from a visit with the Dakota Grandkids in 2012. Jonathon and Jessica wanted to learn how to drive the tractors so Pap showed them. Amber didn't seem to want to so that is why she wasn't in any pictures
The left side:
Houses the pictures of Pap showing Jonathon how to start the tractor (this one you have to crank it to get it started)
This is the right side:
This one houses the pictures of Pap showing Jessica how to drive the other Z that has an electric start to start it over.
So I shifted the 3 journal boxes on the sketch to this side so I can use the arrows I had cut out.
My cluster was more towards the stars that are throughout the layout.
A close up of the picture and the arrows showing the way to the next picture for how to crank start the tractor.
A close up of the title area, I used words and font for the title
Added the date to the arrow PL card not sure what kit this is from
Close up of the pictures on the right side, I flipped the blocks to make the flow of the pictures work better.
I added this 3x4 card from me & my Big Ideas, for the one block
The little journal card is a cutout from Ellie's Studio line (this is just about gone :)
Best Day Ever is from Simple Stories 24/7 chipboard die-cuts pack and added another cluster of stars. The papers except the red is from my current counterfeit kit, yep July 1 will be here on Tuesday I have another post that day using the current kit. Didn't kick the kit and I didn't thiink I would being a busy month but I didn't do to bad using most of it up. Need to find more sketches to use up the smaller bits and pieces. For the ones of you that do the Counterfeit kit how are you doing this month, and if you haven't you might want to join in next month it's a fun time :)

OH WOW! NOOOOOOOOOO
So sad for the scrapbooking community today as Two Peas in a Bucket announced it is closing.

Two Peas has been a huge source of inspiration for me when I was starting Project Life. I just loved watching the video each week of new ideas or techniques to use in my project life. I made so many good deals on their For Sale boards too.
Scrappers are already mourning the loss of the message boards and soon the galleries, classes and shopping will be gone too.
If you would like more information about the closing visit their FAQ page here: Two Peas FAQ

A Ride for the CKC June Blog Hop

Hi you all and welcome to my blog, today is the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop. If you are coming from Jemma's blog then your right on track. The 3 challenges this month were:
Challenge #1 - Tone On Tone Challenge: Use tones of the same colour on your background. Which I did you can see it here: A Natural Beauty
Challenge #2 - Sketch Challenge: Use Retro Sketch #110 as the inspiration for your project.
Challenge #3 - Line It Up: Arrange your embellishments in neat rows.
I chose #2 to for my layout: here is the inspiration:

My layout for this challenge:
I had these photos for a bit now waiting for the right time to scrap them and thought this layout fit the bill. Everything is from my current kit, I choose this background because of the cars and this layout is all about the ride.
I used the 2 potty people from Amy Tangerine Let's Go dimensional stickers. Used an arrow CTMH trinkets wooden shapes pack and used my tiny attacher to attach it. I put the picture on a PL card  and a chipboard sticker from SS 24/7. This is usually a quick stop for coffee and our first stop heading to Tammy's. We know that the NY border isn't far from here.
Here are 2 pictures of the Hubby checking out the information sign about the town that this stop is located at, we are now on route 88.
When we see the Twin Bridges (this is what we have nicknamed them) we know we are about 30 mins away. This is always a happy sight to see.
My journaling spot with an arrow clip from SU and some washi tape and another SS 24/7 die cut chipboard sticker
The title in various fonts.
When we visit it's like a circle we'll go up usually around Christmas and if we can another time in the summer. If the grand-kids have a major function like Brit's Graduation then we drive up. Usually every other year Tammy drives down to visit us, it could be in the spring or the summer. The trip for us is around 6.5 hours, but well worth the travel.
Thanks for stopping by today and next is Margie from Scrappinmargie to see what challenge she chose. If you get lost along the way here is the list of all who are in the hop:

Patriotic Theme: CCC #37

Hi you all and welcome to another Monday challenge over at Creative Cutting Challenge the theme this challenge is Patriotic. I created a layout from the pictures that we took last year:
Uncle Sam Hat Freebie - Click Image to ClosePatriotic Set - Click Image to Close I used 2 different cut files from Creative Pointe on my layout: I used the Patriotic set and the Uncle Sam Hat Freebie. I used the pennants of the Patriotic set for a border accent and the hat for some patriotic diecut action on the layout.

This layout was done with the last sketch from my sketch solution classes at BPC, we were to replace photos with elements but I loved the sketch for all the extra spots for photos that is what I did with it.
The hat to 2.5" high and added a nice touch to the top corner of the layout and also right below the journaling spot.

I resized the pennants to 2" wide and I used the pennants for a border accent. I did use a wee bit of my counterfeit challenge kit with the blue base of the pennants. The white cardstock and the red swirl paper for the photo booth style photos are from last month's kit.
a closer took at the pennants. You could really do so many things with these.
I used a project life card for the edge of the photo for that lettering spot, I trimmed it up to fit the photo. We were enjoying the moment, they put on a good fireworks display each year and I think we found a new fun spot to see them and a short walk from the house.
Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to play along with us on this theme over at Creative Cutting Challenge:
The rules are:
1.  Each project must contain at least one SVG (SCUT, MTC or similar) file die cut and you must state what piece of the project is the SVG file.  A file name or creator link would be helpful to those viewing your project. NOTE:  A project using only a Cricut Cartridge file is not eligible.
2.  Entries must be new works for each challenge.  No back linking will be allowed unless stated in challenge post.
3. There must be a link to the challenge in your blog post.  Please turn off word verification if you wish to receive comments on your entry.
4.  You may enter as many times as you wish.

Stop back tomorrow for the June Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop
I have included this in the Lasting Memories challenge: LM 195 - Selfies.  Show us your own selfie or someone else.

I used the ALLIE & ANGEL digi stamp for my card. All the papers came from last month's counterfeit kit. Yep still enjoying that kit. I colored her with my bic markers.
Popped her up on 1/8" Glue dots. Added bling various places on the card
I used Spellbinders S5-012 FRAMEABILITIES CLASSIC FRAME set that includes the frame and the flower. Some sequin trim I found in my stash.

I used hello from the Strike A Pose stamp set and the heart is from the Personalize It stamp set. I used SU Brown sugar for the stamping and some dirtying up the stamp.

2012 Graduation OutTakes

Good morning you all, got another layout completed over the weekend, none of the other stuff I planned got done but I did get some time to scrap a bit.
Lesson 12 | Adapt a Spread to a Single Page
From the Sketch Solutions class I'm taking over at Big Picture Classes. I adapted the full page part of the layout, similar to what Elizabeth did, but I couldn't get my printed pictures cut down to the size to include that thicker border so my journaling went onto that small cutout Polaroid card. These were all the extra pictures left in the envelope of Britney's Graduation

I added orange strips for some border elements
Fun pictures and a Glitter chipboard piece, Graduation stickers dressed up with orange stickles
 The center section
The Graduation title is colorbok metallic alphas, the cutout Polaroid with journaling
Stickles placed along side the title letters and added some to the 2102 diecut from the Silhouette store.
There's the hubby having a bit of fun on the trampoline, he's was suppose to be helping putting up the canopy.
I used papers from my counterfeit kit and the chipboard too. Thanks for stopping by and seeing what I'm up to in my little corner of the world. Have a fantastic week....

Look Family Moments

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there.
Hi you all I hope your enjoying this fine Sunday. Yesterday mid-afternoon got a chance to be in the craft room a bit and got to work on one of my assigned lessons in my BPC-Sketch Solutions. this is Lesson 11: adapting a single page to a spread with a grid:

This 2 page spread was set up just about spot on with the sketch except the titlting of the pictures on the right hand page and the left hand page holds the grid style layout of extra pictures.
The left side:
When you usually visit our place there is sometime that you will be helping pick black raspberries and of course you got to check out the tractors scattered about the yard so there is usually lots of photo ops.
The right side:
This is just about spot on with a the sketch and it also matches another challenge sketch at the Memory Nest with a turn counter clockwise and it also has 2 different paper manufactures being KaiserCraft and Close to my Heart: Buzz and Bumble Scrapbooking Kit left over paper: The brown cardstock border and the paper behind the photos and the included bee buzzing border that is the extra cutoff piece from the 12 X 12 edge.
The arrow cut is from the Silouette Store and I cut it out of paper from last month's kit. Also the family cutout and the moments chipboard is from the current kit. A picture of both Grandpas with Jonathon :) The girls picture together made it to the framed photo collage frame in my craft room.
Jessica and Jonathon hanging in the tree, many apple trees on the property make a great place from a photo shot. The Click stamp is from CTMH Take a Picture stamp set with perfect pearls dusting powder. The Love love is cut out from a sheet of these little Polaroids.
The journaling card is from the PL Jade core kit added some of the same blue dotted washi tape to create a border like the one on the 12 X 12 page.
The right side page holds a few pictures of the kids on a couple of our Minneapolis Moline tractors. I brought the same brown cardstock and the blue dotted washi tape for the pages to sync together.
I added a few cutouts from 2 different papers to fill in the gaps from the smaller photos. It was a fun day with the Grand-kids since they live in South Dakota we don't see them much and thank goodness for Facebook it's one way to see them changing over time. Jonathon grew another foot by the way it looks and Jessica is pregnant so we have another Great Grand-baby on the way :) We are well blessed :) You all have a fantastic day. I got a couple more layouts to do to get caught up with my sketch solutions class. The hubby is out lounging on the chaise out back enjoying his day :)
