Today is the beginning of the new challenges over at Lasting Memories for the month. We are having some fun with the challenges this month using some Unique National Holidays. Today's challenge is honor of Dec 3rd: National Roof Over Your Head Day :) Scrap about your home or someone elses home or any home in general. Or switch: Scrap about your home during the Holidays. Seeing Christmas lights would work.
Hi you all, this maybe troubling for some and that is not the idea for this layout. When the rain washes away and you take a look at what is left.... In 2004 we had to deal with Hurricane Ivan, he came in a week after Hurricane Jean came in. It wasn't a Katrina, but for this girl it was the worst flooding I have physically faced since I was a youngster seeing Agnes in 1972 and that was a flood that just rocked our area to a core that I still remember, even though our house didn't get flooded that year, we know of many that did. The prompt on LOAD10: Story: Tell of what you hold fast to for security Product/technique: Use a bold paper as a background frame revealed at the edge of your page Image: A photo that includes a house. This prompt I thought about and thought about and then it just came to me about doing a layout/theme album that I have been wanting to do for a long time: You don't know how secure
you feel in your home until something devastating happens to it. Nature
has a way to destruct your secured feeling. Thank you for this prompt, you got me going on a project I wanted to do for a long time:
This will be my title layout to a themed album that I want to do. I used my October counterfeit kit for my layout and this layout was based on a sketch challenge last month on a Facebook group.
The top two pictures hold 2 tags that hold the journaling for the layout. Both pictures were taken from the railroad tracks, the only way to see anything during that time as the river filled up our little community area, the rest of the borough was secured by the dike. When they built the dike years ago it didn't extend this far and that is just another long story for another layout :)
The left tag shows the vital statistics and the right tag shows the journaling of what took place that day for us.
The bottom pictures show the house after we were able to come down from the tracks and to check out the damage. There was still lots of water in the yard and the driveway that we weren't able to come up to the house that way. After the holidays I would like to work on this album quite a bit so a large focus for me in the new year. Not always protected from the elements, but it's always a roof over our head. Thank you for stopping by today and seeing what I'm up to in my little corner of the world....
National
Roof Over Your Head Day. It is a day of appreciation for the things we
have, starting with the roof over our heads. For most of us, a roof over
our head signifies living in a house that protects us from the
elements, keeping us warm, dry, and cozy. Unfortunately, not everyone is
as lucky as you and I. There are many homeless people right here in our
country. Some people live in a cardboard box on the street......
literally. There are millions of people around the world who live in
poverty or disaster areas, and do not have a home to keep them
comfortable and safe. Spend a few minutes being thankful that you are
not homeless, and appreciating your roof and home today. Also make a
contribution to a homeless shelter, so others can come in out of the
rain.
Happy National Roof Over Your Head Day!

Use Orange: Celebrate card
Yes the end is near :) This is the last posting for tonight, but for the lateness it is it'll probably show up as tomorrow morning ( only a quarter of an hour left for tonight ). This card came about with some fun elements in my stash. The card came from the PI crop challenge (Donna's Orange Challenge) to use orange. So came in a orange tag and an orange bottle cap:
I used the sketch over at Sketch N Scrap for my card, sketch #61:
What a perfect sketch for my card.
I used seam binding to make my bow that I hot glued to the hole in the tag. I also hot glued the bottle cap to the doily and added the vellum sentiment to the bottle cap. Finished it off with the glitter tape in a coppery color. The inside of the card was done too, but I guess I didn't get a picture of it before it got sent out for the holiday. The background paper, the tag, the doily, the glitter tape and the bottle cap came from my Feast of Fun counterfeit kit.
Thanks for stopping by today and seeing what I have been up to in my little corner of the world, that I've been crafting this past month :)

Hello for a challenge card
Well it's down to 2 more posts and I should be done for the night :) Thanks for hanging with me today :) I made this card for the PI crop challenge for a Mood Board Challenge:
I really liked doing this card and the challenge was fun too. After finding the needed colored items in my Feast of Fun counterfeit kit to use from the mood board I then went off to find a sketch to use for my card and I got this from Stick it Down their card sketch challenge for the month:

The sketch made for a quick card for the challenges. Hello is a die cut for a SU Hello You Thinlits dies. I used Gold Lame smooch and painted it the needed color to match the card :)
The inside of the card ready for a note to send along to a friend.

Little Man layout
Zachary is 2 in this layout :) I really had fun with these challenges to create this layout. For the PI crop challenge (Get in Shape challenge) You had to use atleast 14 circles I counted 19 on my layout. For the Pinspirational Crop Challenge (Abstract Art Challenge) You had to use something from the inspirational picture (circles, colors, punches) I used circles.
This was one of those fun layouts the took me out of my comfort zone a bit. I found a layout that I CASEd and now I can't find the layout :) I thought these pictures were so cute with Zachary mowing the lawn with Dad :) The original layout had the circles stitched down I chose to use marker for mine to doodle abit on the layout I tried to edge the circles with the chocolate CTMH ink but it wasn't showing up enough so I went with the marker which worked with the bold black in the title and word art.
The title Little Man was playful title that looked like a marker did so that is why I did the doodling the way I did :)
A fun cut out from a Project Life card, also journaling strips that I then outline too for the playful look of the rest of the layout. I used my Feast of Fun kit for the layout. This will be a nice layout to pass onto Brad and Kathrine for their album :)

11 Months layout
These fun pictures of when Zachary was 11 months old :) he's standing and walking with the help from the toy, but not quite on his own yet :) This is a Pinspirational Crop Challenge (Clothing: Color combo inspiration)
and I used the sketch over at Scrapbook Challenges: Sketch #458:

I enjoyed playing with this sketch and the color combination made this a fun layout :)
Most of the papers and elements of the layout came from my Feast of Fun, my current counterfeit kit
I used a project life card for the matting for my journaling strips and included some baker's twine to make the ones sticker a tag :)
A nice easy title for this layout and some fun border elements from a sticker sheet that I split for 2 areas of the layout and some more of those gold rhinestones (just about have that packed used up :) maybe next month it will get done :)
The pictures show Zachery's progression in the room as he's walking with the toy :) It wasn't long after this that he was walking on his own.
Thank you for stopping by again today :) A few more cards to post and I'll be done and get on with some more crafting :)

Love this Wonder Layout
I've been having a good time going through this box of photos that I had printed when I did Zachary's 1st year Album :) This first experience taught me that I love to take lots of pictures and get lots of them printed :) So lots of left over pictures and have found that I can create little stories with these left over pictures for our own scrapbooks here at the house. This was a moment I just love of Dave and Zachary together :) Dave and Zachary didn't have the best relationship when Zachary was young, we think it had something to do with the beard :) So a captured moment that makes me happy to see :) From the PI crop (Negative Space Challenge) construct a layout with a 1/3rd of the page:
This is not my normal style so I went off looking for a sketch that I could work with and found this one over at The Memory Nest: their Make it Monday: No 49:

I just love all the layers on this sketch too and was able to use this for the negative space challenge and also used the colors of the photo inspiration challenge over at Scrappin N Chattin yahoo group. I found out with this challenge that if the background paper is busy t works perfect for me for this type of challenge cause then I was good with all the space because to me is didn't feel visually empty like a plain white background does for me.The challenges really do make me grow as a scrapper and helps me to understand my type of scrapping.
I love the project life cards in my Feast of Fun, my current counterfeit kit :) I found 2 fun cards to use on this layout This one I cut down for the sentiment, I inked up the edges with I'm thinking the CTMH chocolate ink in my kit. I added some silver adhesive gems for the design triangle effect about the layout.
This card was perfect for the emphasis of the moment that was taking place in the photo. I journaled a bit of the moment that was taking place. Added a metal brad with the gems and some washi tape.
I had fun creating the title with making sure the Love that was on the paper peaked out enough to have it available added the word strip and popped up the word cutout. This is one of my favorites this year :)

Too Cute layout
Back with another post :) This is a layout I did for both the PI crop (Pop's Handmade Challenge) with the handmade flower and the Pinspirational Crop challenge (Banners) where we had to create a hand cut banner
These are some fun photos I found in the box of Zachary photos of him and his Mom our DIL Katherine :) while looking through the pile. They had no story by themselves but made a great little story together:
When I was looking through the pile of pictures I notice that Zachary doesn't smile to often for the camera and then I seen that one with his smile and knew this would be a fun layout to create. So I used the sketch over at ScrapMuch? Sketch from Nov 6:

I had a blast working with this sketch! I loved all the layering that was going on and I was able to change it a bit to fit my photos and my elements that I wanted to work with for both the other challenges :) I got to use up those puffy hearts that have been hanging around my scrap room for ages!
Fun little banner made from scraps, nice addition on the sketch that I really liked on the layout too.
Fun title created from chevrons for a punch, a cute sticker title and a row of gold rhinestones.
This spot holds the journaling and the sweet blue flower I got in a swap one time. Added the fun brad that's in my current counterfeit kit as well as the papers that I used for most of the layout. The brad attached that fun word tag.
The tag and the black and white polka dot heart came for the Heidi Swap tag pack. Added that to the front of the red heart that was in my stash made a nice layered corner in this area of the layout.
Thanks for stopping by again today :) See you all soon :)
