Top Smaher Challenge #1

Good Day to you! I have joined in on a challenge event on FB called Top Smasher (based off Top Chef, sorry never seen it) This is my submission for this past week's challenge:
The challenge: TOP CHEF CHALLENGE 1 : Red, pink, glitter, letter stickers and stars!
As soon as I seen the challenge I knew exactly what pics I wanted to smash. I think I got all the ingredients covered and I also used parts of my counterfeit kit to make the 2-page spread-that's a win-win for me :)
Up close shots:
From the kit I used the pink hexagon paper for a border, red back ground paper that I brought into the kit later, the best friends came from the one cut out sheet, and the flower came from the die-cuts I gathered up. Added was the stars needed for the Top Smasher challenge.
The black glitter lettering and hearts was brought in for the Top Smasher challenge too, the red arrow came from some of the items I puled for the kit
This page has attached to the red pattern background paper the booklet we got from the show. I attached the tickets that we received on it and a up-close picture of Isabelle all dressed up and ready to dance :) The journaling tag came from the same cut up paper as the Best friends tag, added a vellum tag for one of the sheets I had chosen for the kit. Added another star and some pick gems for the Top Smasher part of the challenge.

See that tab-that tab (which is in pink for the Top Smasher challenge) opens to the page that has mention of the dance they are performing, hence the title of the 2 pages and :
to a page that has another picture that pointed out Isabelle by way of some post it notes that I got in a package from Walmart that is from EK Success that has lots of goodies (note pad, post-its and stickers). Hidden under the tickets the name of the challenge and the date I smashed it.
Bullet the write up with pink stickles. The pages were done in my green-eco smash book that I have dedicated to the grandkids functions. Just love how this turned out and it was great to do some smashing again. Now the 2nd challenge is a bit more trickery  and has for one of the ingredients a Shakespeare quote, so I'm off to Google to find one I like, and work from there.

Old German Honey Cookies

Good Morning,
It's been awhile since I've done a recipe swap layout on the blog, thought it would be good to do one today. Next month is our last month with the recipe swap we decided to try to do something different and get together each month and one girl is to be the teacher and will do something crafty with the group so I'm looking forward to that.
This is the swap I did in September and the theme was honey. I chose a very easy layout cause I just loved that pattern background cardstock and I wanted that to show through. The honey jar cut came from the Just Because Cards Cartridge, page 53 is the sticker with the circle edge cut off. The negative I added to the bottom of the recipe paper to emphasis the theme. I look forward to trying the cookies over the Christmas holiday.
Thanks for stopping by today and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.

H2O

Good Morning and welcome to my blog. Today I have my first layout done from my Counterfeit kit challenge for November, Yay me! Wow where did this month go! and I got a little over a week to kill this kit, guess I'll be doing lots of scraping this coming week:
Mostly everything on this layout came from my Nov. Kit. My goal this coming week is to finish up this album and give it to Katherine before the new baby arrives. I got enough layouts left to knock out this kit, I brought in the blue water paper as an added addition to the kit and the frame to complete the page. It's a layout within a layout, see the At The Pool section is a layout I got at the Silhouette store and most of the pieces cut are from Design #20249 (Lori Whitlock design) and I included Design ID #1383 for the title on that section of the layout and Design ##29024 (Sarah Bailey design) for the layout title: H2o. Zachary enjoys the water and I wanted to include the other Grandparents in the album too. I used the plaid for a neutral background, then went to work on that 8 X 8 layout cutting a variety of the pieces from the kit. Brought in the green cardstock to separate the photo from the paper and to give a bit of a design triangle with the photos on the side. While trying to bust my stash and looking for some glue dots on my clip it I came across a pack of frames and decided to use one for the sprinkler pictures. Layout 1 completed :)
I enjoyed working with this kit and it didn't take to long to pull it all together, cutting the pieces in the morning and putting the layout together last night in just a couple of hours.
Thanks for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.

A Digital Happy Hanukkah Card

Good Morning all and welcome to my blog. Today I'm the designer over at Card A Day Blog and the theme is Hanukkah. Mine today is a digital card that will be made into a regular card, time got away from me on this one ;)
I created this card in Photoshop elements, here is where you can get your first start with a card. You can make all the layers in the program and shift, move and change how you want it to look.
Sometimes when I'm stuck on a card, I will check out google images or Pintrest, of cards for inspiration and then I go from there to my PE program and start creating shapes that I may want to use, add clip art and some digital papers and you can come up with a card fairly quickly. From there I will transform into a paper card to give to someone over that holiday. This way I have a visual sketch of what I want to make.
First I start with a new Blank file and put in the dimensions of the card size and then I get to work. Pick and choose all the elements that I want in the card, then decide on the various shapes and clip art I want to use for the card. The candles here are similar to the Silhouette Design ID #1532 that I will be using in my card. The digital papers I got from Sweet Nothings (free) and these are very similar to the papers I will use. The card itself will go together relatively fast now that I have a map to follow.
Do you have Photoshop Elements or another program similiar? Have you ever done any digital crafting either cardmaking or scrapping? There is alot of information out there on the subject, how tos ( here is where I found out how to first create the card: Finally Friday-How to Create a Digital Card) She uses Photoshop, but alot of the same rules apply to Photoshop Elements. Just another fun way to be crafty :)
Have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world

Hanging Ornaments: A Creative Cutting Challenge

Good morning and welcome to Creative Cutting Challenge Monday here at my blog, the theme over the next 2 weeks is Christmas--Not a Card. I put together a 2 page scrapbook layout.
These are pictures that I had taken Dec 24, 2011. I didn't have a chance to look it up in my journal, but I'm assuming we must have been having a busy week before that we waited till Christmas Eve Day to put up the tree. I used Creative Pointe's: Christmas Set 2 for this 2-page scrapbook layout. It's a great set for all your Christmas crafting.
 Christmas Set Two
The set had a cute ornament and stocking that I used for the border along both pages. I used them to mimic decorating the tree with hanging them along the glittery silver trim. I pulled out my trusty box of stashed Christmas papers to create the die-cuts. I found just the right green, red and a diagonal striped paper for the die-cuts.
Some up close shots of the die-cuts
The left side of the 2 page layout:
I'm not exactly sure where the background paper is from and a quick google search didn't help me neither. The border was done with silver trim in my ribbon stash. The die cut papers used were from receiving of happy mail I had got from a girl on a FB group I belong too. The green dotted paper came from a Christmas paper pack (DCWV 180pack) I got a few years ago and knew that this paper would cut best at a larger size. I also added Larvy applique stuff to white part of the stocking to give it a fluffy texture. The title came from fussy cutting it out a Creative Imaginations word paper collage sheet. To cover the silver trim ends I added a 1 inch border strip of that green dotted paper. I added the current date of documenting the layout and stamped it with CTMH Holiday Red ink.I also added journaling right to the page this is not something I normally do but thought this was a good place to add it and I also can say I finished one of the challenges from an Art & Science Challenge class I took from Big Picture Classes.
The right side of the 2 page layout:
I drew from the red in the left side to come up with the 2nd page of the layout. The red background paper is a Creative Imaginations paper and I added another fussy cut sub-title and a strip for the trim ends covering. The holly paper that I layered the photos with came from that same gal that sent me such cute happy mail. I added candy cane stickers (EK Success) for the other droops in the trim that didn't have any die-cuts and I really like how that turned out.

I really enjoyed making the layout over the weekend and was glad to get out some old photos from the drawer to scrap.
We would love to have you join in with the fun and link up you Christmas project the only stipulation is the cut has to be from an electric die cutter and not a cricut cartridge cut. Have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.

A Little Bling for the Tree

Good Day to you all, welcome to my blog today I'm the designer today over at Card A Day Blog, with an Ornament card. Christmas is in the air this time of the season and we like to prepare a bit early for the card giving season

Lots of bling on this card, the blue and red piece tied up with a nice bow could also be used for an ornament for the tree too.
I have a nice collection of Christmas paper in my stash and that is where I went to get the background piece for the card. I started with a 5.5 X 5.5 card base from Close to My Heart Kraft cardstock. Added a layer holly leaves/candy canes kraft paper I got in some happy mail I received. The ornament is a design file I got at the Silhouette store for my Cameo: Snowflake Doily. That was cut out of blue foil cardstock and red glittler cardstock with red and green ribbon laced through one set of holes and tied at the top for the bow. The sentiment is on natural color cardstock, inked with Walnut Stain and stamped with Brilliance Cosmic Copper ink. Added some Holly stickles and it's ready other than a sentiment in the inside for mailing this year.

Thanks for stopping by today and check out this post (100 Blog Followers Giveaway) for a chance to win, Have a fantastic day! Stop back Monday for the new Creative Cut Challenge project.

November Counterfeit Kit Challenge

Hi you all, have you heard about a blog called Counterfeit Kit Challenge? I didn't till last month when I stopped by Cindy's Creations Blog and check it out. Really thought now this is a cool idea and a smart one too. To have everything ready for the month of scrapping, that is a win-win if I ever seen one. All the choices are made just need to raid your stash for similar products and some not so similar if you want and get those pictures out of the drawer, out of the envelopes and on to the pages. So I decided to tackle the kit this month too. So this is the November kit:
http://www.jbsmercantile.com/uploads/111063.jpg
They are focusing on the October Jenni Bowlin kit (this is the main kit but you can also work with the add on kits too). So with this kit up on my computer screen I went thru my stash and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon I have to say :)
This is what I came up with ^^^^^^^

The papers came from a few sources the bottom row the 5 pattern papers came from Recollections Graceful collection, it's nice to pull the papers from the same line I know then that they will match well. The cardstock came from DCWV Neutrals pack. The top 5 came from the 1st pink one came from te DCWV Collage Musings Pack, figure with the only diagonal that I came across had pink in it so thought best to bring in another for added color. The diagonal, the navy, the grey plaid came from DCWV dots, stripes & plaids pack (my husband gave me nine paper packs for Christmas last year that I am still working through :) ). A sheet full of journaling blocks and sayings in pinks, blues and greens plus other neutral colors to work with the rest of the papers is from 2011 Cosmic Cricket upcycle elements and looks like a really fun page to use.
I have no transparencies, at least not that I know of so I went with some vellum sheets for that, I got out a alphabet sheet that I had last year from Simple Stories Harvest collection, the die cuts are coming from many sources from my stash and I only had the white speech bubbles that are also very small so I added the die cut pack to go with it too and I can see this being inked on grunged up and maybe some paper covering too.
Up close shot on some of the die cuts/stickers that I will be using
The speech bubbles and the raw chipboard pieces
I figured I had better pull in some pink die cut pieces since I have pulled in that diagonal stripe paper that has pink in it. My 4 labels, 2 stamp sets, s spool ribbon that has stitching down the middle for the stitched jute that was in the main kit and some leaves I found in my stash rounds out the embellishments.

I'm looking forward to using the kit this month and getting those pictures out of the drawers, out the envelopes and onto these pages. As I do the layouts I will showcase what I have done here on my blog.

This month I'm also working on Zachary's first year album and a Cruise Album they are both goals I have for this year that I want to finish up this month. The Cruise Album is a Mets Fan Appreciation Cruises that my Mom and I went on in 1985 and 1986, I was glad to get the pictures out and get them scanned into the computer so I can scrap the originals and get them out of the box and onto the pages of an album.

You all have a fantastic day and stop back tomorrow for the news about a 100 follower giveaway

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi all and welcome to my blog, today I design a card for the Creative Cutting Challenge. The theme for the next 2 weeks are Thanksgiving. I decided to make a card
The Thanksgiving card was made with Creative Pointe’s Thanksgiving set 3
Thanksgiving Set Three - Click Image to Close
I used the Horn of Plenty and the Thanksgiving heading for the card with my cameo. The files cut nicely and add a nice touch to the card.
I started with a premade card base I had on hand, The background paper comes from the Alleghany Plum paper pack. The die cut pieces were cut from scraps, love using up the scraps I have on hand. I added gold liquid pearls to the Happy Thanksgiving heading and variety of stickles to bring out more color in the cardstock pieces. The banners are made from fabric ribbon that I have on hand and added a border of golden sparkly trim that I had in my stash. Thankful that my husband had one time worked in textiles now I have all kinds of trims in my stash.
I also decorated brought the background piece into the inside of the card
added a scrap of cardstock for the sentiment or a note, not quite sure yet. I have a special Aunt that will be getting this card.

I see this morning I got over a 100 followers, woohoo! Now that sounds like a party and for you all that means a giveaway, check back this week for the details.

I added the card to challenges:
Cut It Up:Thanksgiving Challenge #31

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving as well, eat and be merry, but most be thankful.
