The Making of the Quilt-CCC Anything Goes

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you. I'm a Notre Dame fan so I'll have a Fighting Irish shirt on today :). Today is Creative Cutting Challenge and the theme is Anything Goes. I did a 2-page layout:
I used the Quilter file for the die-cuts on the layout:
Quilter - Click Image to Close
Anybody that quilts or sews will love this file for documenting those moments, or even for a cute Mother’s Day card, the quilt block would make a sweet background.
My layout is about the making of a particular quilt that I was approached by this particular club to sponsor the embroider patches that the ladies would quilt together (shame I didn’t win the quilt :) When I first started my business I was setting up at Antique tractor shows, doing embroidery on site. That is how this first came about, I was asked to do each of the features for that year as an embroidery for their 10th Anniversary, a quilt to be raffled off  I would embroider all the different patches and the girls did a great job putting them together. The left side:
The quilt block made for nice corner spots in the layout, the sewing machine added a splash of color and the word 'quilter' was trimmed down to 'quilt' and shadowed. I used a recollections border punch for the strip if sewing lines paper.
The left side holds the journaling block explaining about the quilt. This side also has a picture of the finished quilt ad another one of the cute quilt block cut in the corner.
From my March counterfeit kit I used some of the alphas for the title. I put rhinestones that came from the Making Memories gems & glitter tapes pack on each connecting triangle in the quilt blocks for some bling
The journaling block came from We R memory keepers 3 X 4 Journal cards: Daily DIY. I added washi tape the black ruler as another border and the pink ruler one each side of the middle pictures. Added Making Memories rub-on images-stamp 2 of them, the this way arrow is from Elle's Studio the sweet life cutouts, and a few of the word strips from Simple Stories Harvest Lane sticker sheet
The background paper, the sewing lines border paper and the die-cuts paper all came from the DCWV 'the Crafty stack'.
I spent the weekend sorting through my craft desk drawers for pictures for some layouts I wanted to do. Did not find the pictures that I wanted to use for any of the planned layouts, but I did find other pictures to use. This was not my intentional layout for the challenge, but one that work out all with the same concept of a quilt. How was your weekend?

Don't forget to join in on the challenge here are all the details:

  4. This is amazing. There's one of my favorite quilt blocks (I know it as the Ohio Star) on this. Quilting and machine embroidery are 2 past hobbies that have fallen by the wayside as I got into rubber stamping/card making. You've done a fantastic job on this project and whomever won the quilt is going to be ecstatic! Lots of work on this one. TFS & Hugs
