Our Favorite Cookie Recipe

Hi and welcome to my blog :) Today is February 1st and that means there is a new month of challenges over at Lasting Memories :) This month's theme is "Food for Thought" which means well be talking and scrapping all about food this month :)YUM! February 1st challenge is 'Favorite Recipe or Food'. I chose to do one of our favorite recipes:
This is our most favorite cookie recipe :) Every year since Dave and I have been married, each Christmas I try a new cookie recipe. I'm not sure what year I tried this recipe but it's been our favorite ever since. It's a sweet chewy cookie called Sand Tarts, I got the recipe out Southern Living Christmas Cookies book and if this is the only recipe we ever use out of the book it's still well worth the price of the book :).It's not like the usually sand tart cookies I had in the past that were crisp and dry.
I made this layout yesterday, from the Scrappin N Chattin yahoo group's 24 hour challenge layout. This challenge details are we are to decide 3 different paper kits we want to use, the hostess chooses 3 different sketches and then we get a partner that chooses the sketch and the kit the we get to make our layout from. I was chosen to use The Gilded Paper stack from DCWV (this pack is also in my counterfeit kit for February, you'll see that tomorrow) and this is the sketch I was to use:

I flipped it horizontally for my journaling piece with the arrows to work.
The details of the journaling is basically the recipe.
The other photos in the layout are the process of getting the cookies into the oven. The part of the challenge is to use from only the chosen kit and you have to have at-least one embellishment so sometimes it's a bit tricky from just the paper pads to get the embellishments. This paper pad also has 4X6 pieces on a 12X12 paper that I was able to cut up and use for embellishing the pictures and scattering other embellishes among the layout
I found this 4X6 and cut it into 2 pieces to decorate the one 4X6 photo block.
The title was cut with my cameo and I inked the edges with SU Baked Brown Sugar ink and popped it up on foam. I added the 3 heart embellishment to. With a picture of the cookies before I put them in the oven.
I'm glad to have one of our Christmas traditions scrapped and in the books :)
We are foodie people with the garden and canning besides baking, cooking and entertaining in the summer so this is one great month to scrap for me :) Also look for this month I'll be doing LOAD215 this month so you should see a layout each day if I can keep up with blogging the entire month :) It's gonna be a fun one this time and you'll see more details to that tomorrow. Also it's the 1st of the month so that means there is a new inspirational kit to forge over at Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and man it's a good one :) You'll see more of this paper pack in the following month cause I added it to my kit (check that out toomorrow too).
You all have a great day today, we are canning spaghetti sauce today, waitin on the storm to arrive and watching the Superbowl later tonight (the hubby is a NE patriots fan) I'll be rooting on the Patriots since Seattle is not my favorite California team and one of the Niners biggest rivalries.
Please do join up this month over at Lasting Memories for "Food for Thought" February monthly challenges of food related scrapbook pages.

  4. Love this layout Tina! I love any scrappy pages that are about food. lol We are foodies too around here and I have scrapped about foods that we love as well, including the recipe. Your cookies look and sound delicious! I love the papers you used and I love your take on the sketch! Wonderful layout my friend. I can't wait to see your LOAD215 layouts, love them! I used to canned spaghetti sauce too but not anymore. There are times I really miss my homemade sauce, well all my canned goods really. We watched the Super Bowl too, although hubby didn't really root for any team and ended up falling asleep. lol I don't have a favorite team so I didn't really root for either one. It was a pretty close game and I wasn't really sure who was going to win it there for a while. Glad your hubby's team won! Stay warm, this week. We are still white, but just a coating of the new white stuff which was ok by me! lol Hugs, Brenda
