Enjoy the Ride

Hi you all I'm the designer today over at Card A Day Blog. The theme this week is teen and this is a card I made last year for my grandson's birthday.

The card was made from the svg file from Creative Pointe "Off Road Set"

The one thing I love about SCAL is that everything is there in one project. I brought everything into the program and built my card exactly as I had imagine it would look but now I can have a visual to it.
Each piece is then put on it's separate color page to be cut from that particular color. I had this all put together in about 2 hours, I'm a bit rusty on using the program, lol!

I popped up the rider to give the card some dimension as shown in the photo. The recipe for the card: This card is 4.5" X 6.25". The background is attached to gray cardstock (cardbase) it look like dirt to me and it is from the DCWV Stack 7 pack. The tire tread and rider from Creative Pointe's off road set were cut out of black cardstock scraps and the gray came from DCWV Metallic stack. The letters were cut from a scrap piece of red cardstock I used the Impact font from SCAL. The is the first in awhile that I have used SCAL and look forward to using it more. All cuts on the card was done with SCAL v2.
Have a fantastic day and thank you for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.......

Project Life 2013: Week 9

Good Morning all. I have a project life spread for you today. This is Week 9, week 9 consisted of a couple of huge events and the everyday stuff.
Here is the 2 page spread:
Left side:
The week in review I put on the week card cause there were so many pictures this spread. Monday night I smashed my finger oh what a way to start out the week. I wasn't paying attention when closing up the garage door for the hubs and my finger was in one of gaps and didn't feel it till it was just about closed. Started to panic but drew out of it to concentrate on opening the door back up to get my finger out. Also did a smash page that morning before going into work you can find the details here about this page. Tuesday was random shot of big pile of laundry needing folded. Wednesday Bible Study Fellowship went really well today and while eating lunch a heck of a snow storm came in so got a picture of the snow on Jake.
 Right Side:
Thursday they were laying new rails down on the railroad track in front of the house so got some pictures of that. Friday was the first day of March and I made a March card to separate the months. Loving the calender my hubby got me for Christmas cause I've been using it throughout project life it works for certain situations once in awhile. March 1st was also Peanut Butters Lover's Day and I stopped and got a few snacks for the day. I love peanut butter! Choose the collection that I was gonna use in Project life and added that to the page. Saturday worked on banking and got the checkbooks caught up (weekly thing a random shot). Sunday was a good day, purge is the word for the year so got Dave to help me work of getting the bedroom closet cleaned out.  Lots of reminiscing while doing it. The mini-series the Bible started too today, loved the first episode didn't agree with a couple of things from my reading but I enjoyed watching it.
Some close ups:

Now this was a fun find in my about the author of Oz and thought it worked out with the closet purge cause of some of the stuff got to American Rescue Workers (a local goodwill store). It says: A Marvel-ous Coincidence: A coat purchased at a used-clothing store for Professor Marvel's costume in the Wizard of Oz was found to have originally belonged to Oz's author, L. Frank Baum.

Thanks for stopping by ans seeing what I'm up to in my little corner of the world.

Pinwheel Type of Day

Hello,
I get to finish off the Just Because theme week over at Card A Day Blog, you should go check out  the cards from this week they have been fabulous!
I chose a cheery card for my day on the blog, I think it would lift up anybody's spirit if they were having a bad day. This is the card we made at my last Close to My Heart Club, so it is made from their products.
This card is made form the Dream Pop paper collection, the card base and the the pattern paper cute is layer on white cardstock. The pinwheel is from the May Pinwheel stamp collection. The pinwheel is stamped on white cardstock and the actual piinwheel head is fussy cut and then popped up off the paper. A bakers twine bow to add texture to the card, this make a cheery just because card for any of your friends or family.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a view from my little corner of the world....

Celebrate the Red, White and Blue

Hi you all, I'm really enjoying this week's theme cards the designers are doing over at Card A Day Blog they are doing a fantastic job! I'm the designer today and the theme is Country's Birthday and the 1st thing I think of is the 4th of July. So that is how this card came about:
The card is 5.5" X 7" card and the base is from the natural pack of cardstock I get at Joanns. I covered it with a dark blue cardstock from my stash and the bottoms section is from the paper pack American Made from My Mind's Eye. You know those strips that they have on the edge of a 12 X 12 paper, yep that is where the border came from one of the strips out of that paper pack. The cut I received in a cut swap a long time ago and I love this cut cause it shows our country as one nation. I added a banner with Celebrate stamp from the CTMH-Card Chatter-Birthday set and used SU brilliant blue ink on white cardstock, cut the ends to make the banner and added red metal dots from Best Occasions.
This would make a fantastic card for the July 4th Birthday, sending a special card to relative to wish them a great 4th or maybe to Operation Write Home and let one of the soldiers use it to write home.

Thanks for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.

Project Life 2013: Week 8

Hi you all, here is Week 8:
Week 8: February 18-24, 2013: this week brought a couple of first for me. First insert added and first cut using my Cameo. We make do with what we have and that is shown this week and 2 special events included in the week.
Left Side:
Consisted of Monday night canning the Pasta and Pizza sauce we made. Tuesday I repaired some pants and hemmed a pair too. Wednesday I got some fantastic happy mail, got my swap box from my swap partner-Vicki. We are in the Cricut Card Exchange group on face book and the group does a swap every couple of months. It's fun to receive a box of goodies in the mail from someone else that knows scrapbooking/cardmaking.
Right Side
Consisted of my favorite morning show Good Morning America-Wednesday was the first day back for Robin Roberts since she left for her surgery. It was great to have the team back and so good to see Robin. With that I added a Get-Glue sticker I got way back when I first started get glue. Thursday a typical winter night; Dave and Buddy playing. Friday night I did up my layout of what I thought would look good on the club trailer for the meeting on Saturday. Saturday we went to Gettysburg for the MGCA meeting and Sunday was our youngest grandchild's baptism. It was a good week.
First for me: Added insert for inbetween the 2-page spread:
This is the front side I guess is the best way to call it. This side has the booklet we got at the church for Zachary's baptism. A collage of the restaurant that we ate at in Gettysburg and where we had the Board meeting. The other pictures were from what we saw on the way to the meeting, the gps was nice enough to take us up through the one road that takes you through the battlefield so that was cool to see along the way. We also passed the train station that Lincoln was at and a random shot of a cool building I saw.
The back side:
Snapshots of an auto/walking tour that we took of the battlefield. After the meeting, we decided to check out the Battlefield a bit before heading back home and it was just a bit but took an hour, there is so much to see and will need to get there another day for that. The picture of the star statute is one of the PA memorials, I was thinking it was the one that pertained to my ancestor-Charles Baker that was in the war and that infantry (still need to check on that).
Some up close shots:
The canning jar was cut on my cameo, I thought it was fitting for a journaling block.

A collage of getting to the meeting and seeing the conference center-the place that was chose for the 2015 MMCI Winter Convention that we are hosting.
Zachary's Baptism

This was a cool week to do and I had lots of fun doing it. I was glad to see all the project life inspiration out there in blogland and on facebook to help me figure out about how I wanted to do the insert. I also have figured out that if I keep my 2 page spread out on my craft desk that when I have a few minutes I can come in and do something with it and it makes go smoother for me than to sit in one session doing it. Should be caught up real soon now, just about finished with week 9 as I typing up this post. Thanks for stopping by today and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.
