Wonder

Hi you all and welcome , As Load is winding down I have today is Day 30 of LOAD 514, the theme is Places and the prompt:My Secret Place.I was surprised about this, but as I started to think about it I did have a spot and then looking for the pictures I figured out I had 2 spots that I thought was a secret place.
This is the back of the house I grew up in. The top picture was taken at the beginning of this month and the bottom picture is from 1978. Wow was I surprised how much it had changed since I left when I was 18. So my layout comes from lesson 5 from the class Sketch Solutions that I'm taking at Big Picture Classes. But I also used lots of Washi and that was a challenge over at Sketch N Scrap it was Lisa's washi tape challenge at her blog My Creative Endeavors so that is another one done and checked off the monthly list, they have been having lots of fn challenges over there for their birthday bash.
I used papers from my current counterfeit kit and the washi tape came from that kit too, most of the tape came from SU: Retro Fresh this and that. I also used some vellum around a few spots on the layout. The wonder title came from K&Company EcoModern die cuts.
Found these cute house on a cut out sheet and thought it worked just fine on this layout since we are talking about the house :)
The pictures: The arrows point to both secret places. The one that you see in the 1978 photo was my favorite secret place, it was a special place one that I only new of atleast that is what I thought :) It was my spot from a preteen to almost adulthood. I played with cars under there in the dirt. It was the best place to play hookie till Mom caught on about it. A spot for hide and seek games. The place was huge! The other spot was the balcony a place where our excess toys were stored so a great little play room while Dad was sleeping.
I had fun attaching the banner to the page :)
Th journaling wrote directly onto the layout, that was gutsy for me and also Stacy's challenge over at Big Picture Classes for Art & Science of Scrapbooking class. Just one more day of LOAD 514 and its a good one I just heard the prompt, glad today is Saturday I have most of the day to do the layout and I have a feeling it'll be a 2 page layout.
I close out the month, I'm surprised how much of my counterfeit kit I still have left, I knew it was huge but didn't realize that it was that huge, but I did eliminate alot of product this month kind of nice to throw away those empty containers. Well you all have a good Saturday and I'll see you Sunday with the last post for LOAD in May...

Ice Cream :)

Hello and welcome once again today :) The LOAD post for today is Day 29 of LOAD 514, the theme is Pop Culture and the prompt:It's a Taste Sensation. It's all about food! What was your favorite food growing up? Do you still like it? Is it still available? Mine is:
From the time I can remember I have always loved Ice Cream :) I used the sketch challenge over at My Scraps and More Sketches for this layout:

Since this is about food it also falls under the challenge from Sketch N Scrap and Stephanie's Party food challenge over at her blog at Skyline Paperie
I used my current counterfeit kit for this layout. I used the Glitter letter thickers for my title and ice cream stickers from the Neapolitian Collection. I used a variety of borders and the die cut is from: Cricut Cartridge Birthday Bash - page 55/keypad button 35 (I'm glad I made this for a swap it worked out perfect on this layout).
The progression of pictures through my life and love of Ice Cream. Me in June 1971 enjoying a cone from Hurr's Dairy, My husband and kids having fun making homemade ice cream out on the back porch area mid 1990s, and now DQ is my favorite spot to get ice cream, I love the blizzards and my husband loves the soft vanilla ice cream cones they have.
The journaling, I added a few thickers and some fun stickers. My love for ice cream has carried over to the next generation, my daughter loves it even more than I do! (Is that possible?) I guess it is cause if she could she would live on ice cream from DQ or Sunset. Me I need a pizza now and again :)
Thanks for stopping by a 2nd time today, just a couple of layouts left for LOAD 514. I'm glad it's winding down, but it sure has been fun. Have a great weekend and stop back tomorrow for another layout.

This card is from my brother in law this coming week and I liked using the sketch over at Sketch N Scrap to help me pull the card together. The sketch I used:

I used alot scraps from my counterfeit kit and I used 3 Twenty crafts Polaroid frame and the star stamps from Strike a Pose stamp set and the sentiment from Personalize it stamp set. Both stamp sets are very versatile. I popped up the frame with foam:
to give lots of dimension and
I used a sticker of the guitar from Simple Stories Awesome sticker set and the star sticker in the corner came from the Bo Bunny Block party sticker set. I think he'll like it :) Still have to do the inside just no time tonight to do it but I'll get it done over the weekend.

Radio Ga Ga

Hello and welcome, today's post is Day 28 of LOAD 514, the theme is ??? Something Random and the prompt:Goodnight, Moon. so I'm thinking where is Lain going with this? she gives you some ideas of bedtime rituals and says Did you have to hear the TV going in the other room and it clicked like a light bulb the memory of listening to the radio to get to sleep:
My layout is lesson 4 over at Sketch Solutions over at Big Picture Classes and I also planned to work Sketch N Scrap's May 27th challenge PARTY from Evie over at Artful Scrapbooking Studio: It's a word challenge: P = Purple Crackle Paint; A = Arrow; R = Radio; T = Thickers; Y = Yellow ribbon plus other yellow things on the page :)
This also qualifies for May 28th's challenge over at Tamika's blog Making Today Better than Yesterday with her challenge of bling which is found with the glittery thickers and dots, the ribbon down the page also has a shimmer to it.
My title comes from one of my favorite groups: Queen and was fitting for this layout. I used Thickers glitter letters, and a star from the Bo Bunny block party sticker sheet.
I used purple crackle paint around the collage of pictures for some texture also used it on the wooden veneer heart. The corners stickers came from the same Bo Bunny sticker sheet.
The gold arrow pointing to the fuzzy slippers is from my stash. Various pictures of me in pjs both are at Christmas time.
I used part of an Echo Park mini theme kit for the gray paper which included this word card on the back.
The journaling card came from Recollections creative chaos journaling pad. I might just add letter stickers to the top spelling out random to fit with the theme a bit. All the papers came from my current counterfeit kit and te ribbons came from last month's kits. (I still have quite a bit of paper life, I'm totally surprised!)

Thanks for stopping by today to see what's up in my little corner of the world

It Had To Be Magic

Hello and welcome, today's post is a bit fun for me and I was surprised how quickly I wanted to start this layout Monday night see we get the day's prompt at midnight so I was up for an hour working on the layout. This is Day 27 of LOAD 514, the theme is I believe.... and the prompt: It's Magic. Lain gives you some ideas and it dawned on me what I really thought was magical when I was a young girl:

How in the heck did they get her in that bottle, must have been magic :) I Dream of Jeannie was one of my favorite shows as a youth and I like it so much that I wanted to dress up just like her when I was 6 years old. the layout is based on lesson 3 of a class I'm taking at Big Picture Classes: Sketch Solutions.
To play along with Sketch N Scrap's May 12th Birthday Decorations challenge from Heather of The Old Saltbox I made a border with the crepe paper:
This is the title block portion of the layout and it includes a diecut TV from the cricut cartridge Mickey and Friends cut at 2.5", also punched out the clock for a cutout sheet and added the Laugh tae with 2 yellow brads  all from this month's Counterfeit Kit the background paper is the pink sheet from one of the paper kits I had this month and I trimmed down the guitar rock star paper for the blue section piece on the layout.
The journaling block and another look at that crepe paper border
The top corner I added some of the dots from the Dear Lizzy thickers that was also used for the title. and the arrows were from a punch out sheet and added some color to the corner that needed something.
Pictures of the show I got off the internet, the smoke it just always made me wonder :)
The picture of me at 6 years old dressed up for Halloween and for the Halloween Parade walk at school, that was always a fun day at school. Thanks for stopping by today to see what I'm up to in my little corner of the world, just a few more days of LOAD, yep I'm ready for a break from scrappin but it sure has been fun walking down memory lane with some of these prompts.

I wish I had Asked

Hi you all and welcome back to another blog post today. Day 26 of LOAD 514, the theme is Back to the Future and the prompt: If I knew then....Don't we all think about this once in awhile if I only knew now I would have done this then. This is my take on the layout, I'm also taking a sketch class at Big Picture Classes and this was lesson 2 of that class for the layout:
I used my current counterfeit kit for this layout and last month's kit for the alphas.
I was glad to use this picture of my grandparents with it being Memorial Day when I did the layout it was fitting. As you can tell which side of the family I get my looks and my Mom got here looks too. But the man is my Grandfather one that I never knew of but was lucky enough to come across a cousin through my genealogy research and she gave me the photos.
My Dad's Mom as a young child a lady that I would have like to have known more of, received this picture from my Aunt when I started asking questions and got to know a bit about the Dress family from her
These are my Zerbe cousins I met while family searching, we spent a wonderful breakfast together chatting about certain things about the family and how we fit as a family, before going to the Cemetery to locate an ancestor's grave stone and found out there was another stone on there of one we were not aware of.
My journaling about my feelings:
If I only knew what I know now, I would have asked more questions. I got into genealogy a few years ago and I did because I was asked a question that I couldn't answer, why because I didn't know. Wish I had known how precious photos would be to me now, I would have taken better care of them. I wish I would have paid better attention to the stories Mom told during the nights we would have slide shows. I wish I had asked my questions to my Gram about her life as a child, about her marriage to my Grandfather I never knew. Or my Pap about what it what was like for him in World War I (he's not pictured). I wish I had asked Dad about his mother that passed away when he was so young, one we knew nothing of till he found out he had another sister.
But I tell the stories that I can now, for my kids so they aren't asking, I wish I had.....

Thanks for stopping by today and seeing what I'm doing in my little corner of the world

Family of 4 Siblings

Day 25 of LOAD 514, the theme is VIPs and the prompt: Sibling Rivalry of Sibling Revelry. Mine was more of an introduction of my siblings:
I found this sketch to use for my layout:
http://www.cardspaperandscrapbooks.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/11310.jpg
I used the right hand side of the 2 page layout, but it's a good one to hang on to for other layouts.
I used my current counterfeit kit for this layout, got one more layout to do from the green paper to finish up that page kit (feeling accomplished :) and I finally opened up another page pack to get it started on this layout maybe get that kicked before the month is over (so ready for a new kit though :).
I did not find any pictures of us as a group of 4, the problem with being the youngest I guess :) But I found a few of the older siblings grouped together and used this one from July of 1964.
Found lots of me and my brother Steve together and just a few of me and Patty together that wasn't from Christmas time (June 1966).
So this is the oldest/youngest together in 2010 for Charlie's daughter's wedding
I found this super cute bingo card and had a bit of fun with it
This is me, Steve and Patty Christmas Eve 2011 (a tradition that has carried on from my family that we get together Christmas Eve) Now there has been issues with my brothers so we don't have complete get-togethers because of it. I seem to be the peacemaker in the house and get along with everyone.
Names of the siblings in order and my age relationship with each.
My thoughts of growing up the baby of the family. Poor Steve I did torment him a bit as I was getting into my teen years, I really didn't care much for him as my babysitter. None the less we are still kinda of close. We don't have the closeness that I see in some families but we are closer than I have seen in other families. This was fun to do and glad that I did do it. Through all the prompts this month from LOAD I have quite a few of the 12 X 12 layouts done for another class that I took that I can tackle and finish up by July which would be fantastic.
Thanks for stopping by today and check back later as I will have another layout from LOAD just a week left, it's been fun so far and I haven't missed a day at all.

Blue & Gray

Day 24 of LOAD 514, the theme is Pastimes and the prompt: School Spirit. I went with my Jr High School, by far my favorite school experience and I definitely had school spirit there.
I found the picture of the Jr High that I went to on the internet, now it is an elementary school. I was lucky enough to have asked to see some old yearbooks a few years ago while I was researching some genealogy of my family and myself and wish I had taken pictures that day but did not. It was fun to walk in the school again to feel all those memories rush back and I was surprised not to many changes to the school since I went there from 1974 to 1977.
I used my current and last month's counterfeit kit to make the layout. I thought the Good Times paper worked perfectly for the layout cause it highlighted so many words that I feel about the school:
I included our school nickname and our school colors amongst the words and this corner seem to be missing something so I added the sticker.
My journaling about the school spilled over into 2 journaling blocks, here is one of the blocks from Simple Stories 24/7 journal pad. I also found some gray paper in my kit for peak of color pattern. I used the numbers paper to create a border along the edge of the paper.
The second journaling block is from a month or 2 ago that I had pulled for another project that has been sitting on my side shelf waiting to be used. I included pennants too. I was trying to pull in as much blue as I could.
A picture of the school on the hill when it was built it was the only one on a hill at that time and thinking that is where the nickname came from
I had this picture not sure where I got it, the typewriter sticker reminds of the typewriters that we had to learn to use in 9th grade, I don't miss the manual typewriters, but I still type the same way when we learned to hold our hands on the keys.

I was lucky enough to finish out and graduate 9th grade there we were that last class at Steven's Jr High School. This school was amazing, just the right place to be a teen. I still remember the wood floors, this is where I had learned to sew in home economics plus refining my cooking skills. I was in the pep club in 9th grade and it was a blast! Our basketball team had their best year that year. We definetly closed the school on a high note. Oklahoma was the school play that year one of my best friends played in it so I was there each night to cheer him on :) So many friendships, good grades and not so good grades, dances, sledding down the big hill out front of the school, field hockey (not my favorite sport but I do remember it). This is where I learned Algebra and some mythology too. Friendships that still bond today, Field trips and school trips we went to Washington DC for the 9th grade trip. It was an amazing school and a amazing experience that will never be forgotten.

I hope your enjoying this fine day, we are doing alot of planting and I've been cooking a bit today for the meal tonight, enjoy and thanks fro stopping by today.

Best Dad By Par card CCC #35

Happy Memorial Day to you!

Hi you all and welcome to my blog, today is the theme Father's Day over at Creative Cutting Challenge and we are to do a card with that theme. The card I did in honor of my Dad he loved to play golf:
I used Creative Pointe's newest cutting file: Golf Set and it's a great set of cutting files if you have anyone one in your family that plays golf it is a must have:
Golf Set - Click Image to Close
I used the golf bag and clubs for the front of the card and fond this saying on line to make the sentiment and I used simple stories Awesome set for the one of a kind sticker for the corner. I did manage to use my last month's kit with the alphas used for the sentiment, but everything came from my stash,
.
I brought in the same paper and a cut of the golf ball and tee for a nice addition to the inside and room for a little note.
