Turntable 2 pg LO

Good Morning and welcome :) Today is a new challenge over at Lasting Memories: theme: All About Shapes and the feature shape this week is CIRCLES:
The layout features circles in the stamped train image, the circle metal flair button, the paper has stamped postmark images and the title is within a half-circle and of course the subject matter is a circle. This is actualle a double page layout. But this side features the circles.
This layout came about from LOAD1015 Day28: Story: Tell of a memorable road trip. Product: Map! Image: A typical vacation photo. So I got 2 of the 3 parts of the prompt on my layout:
This is part of the Altoona, PA day trip. I was really cool to investigate this Museum because the way it was laid out we were unsure if we were allowed in buildings or not, but the door was open so we went in and found this on the other side of the storage building.
I had some fun creating that title on this layout. This side of the layout housed some of the photos of the turntable.
The right hand side of the double page layout has more photos of the round table and a few of the engines that sit outside of the round table. This one was not in action that day and not sure if it operation-able yet.
The title work I did one a piece of vellum that I had previously cut awhile back and used that to help me get the lettering right on the layout. My journaling too.
The arrows in each of these pictures point us out in the photos, I'm in the left hand photo and Dave is in the right hand photo. After the 1st of the year I need to get back to this album and get it finished up :)
Thanks for stopping by today to see what I'm up to in my little corner of the world and I look forward to seeing what you all create and get posted over at Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenges blog.

A Fun Day For a Ride

Good Morning and welcome to a new challenge over at Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenge blog. This is the last challenge of this theme and this month :) I used a sketch over at Scrappin N Chattin yahoo group for my layout :)The theme is direction and the challenge is "ALL AROUND" - Anything Goes that shows Direction... or use CIRCLES on your layouts!!
This was created during LOAD1015 the 1st Day. I went rouge on the 1st prompt :) due to lack of time wanted to do up a summer layout quickly cause I had er pictures handy :) LOAD1015 was the A Pirate's Life theme LOAD. The 1st prompt was to be inspired by A Pirate's Life For Me:
If you had a pirate in your family tree, what would you want to know about them? Think of the legends that would be passed down, the items that would gain significance by their association with that figure of mythical proportions.
Let’s work this month at remembering that WE hold a special place in our own family history! Set out to tell your own story so that you can live on in your family’s folklore. Let’s work at US being the focus of our pages this month.
So what is legendary about YOU? Tell us a story today…
That was just a tad bit much for me to try to think about, locate pictures of and produce a layout in less that 24 Hours, so I went rouge! and got a great layout completed of Dave and Zachary together. Thank you for stopping by today and seeing what I'm up to in my little corner of the world and look forward to seeing your creation from this prompt over a Lasting Memories

Life is Pretty Amazing layout

Good Morning :) Today is a new week at Lasting Memories Scrapbook Challenges and the theme of the month is "WHICH DIRECTION ARE YOU GOING or WENT?" and today's direction challenge is Forward as in - Planes, Trains and Automobiles Inspired... anything that moves. Boats, Bikes, etc... or use an ARROW on your layouts!!
Lots of movement happens in our yard when the grandkids are around and that is what makes Life Pretty Amazing:
This layout came about through and challenge over at SNC yahoo group a sketch challenge :) it also came about from LOAD1015: Day 7: Octopus: Story: something that reaches into all aspects of your life. Product: ink! Image: family photo & highlight a family trait or feature.
There was so much I had going on in my head for this prompt that would take more than 1 day to scrap. So I went to the photo that I found of my husband with 3 of the grandkids and a note of a fine trait he has. I see that trait in all but 1 of his kids and with the 3 that have it it's stronger in 2 of them than the other. This was a fun prompt and a good one for many ideas to scrap. A dedication to my husband and the way he looks at life and being a grandfather is a few words :)
I grunged up this layout pretty good with the inky edges and the chocolate mist. Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your creation to this challenge :) over at Lasting Memories Scrapbook challenges.

South Side..A bit of history about the town I live in

Hi you all :) It's been one of those days that you just want to relax and not do anything for me :) Long night at work may have had something to do with it. So got to sleep in a bit and now ready to start my weekend :)
Today is Just Because Day. Finally, you have a chance to do something without a rhyme or reason. Most often in life, we do things because we have to, or we want to, or it's expected of us. None of those reasons apply today.

Is there something you'd like to do, but there isn't a reason or logic for doing it? Well, today is the day to go out and do something "just because". It is most enjoyable if it is an uncommon, or unexpected activity or action. Perhaps, you have something in mind. If not, just go with the first thing that comes to your mind.  "Just because" activities often come from a "whim" or a "what if I" type of thought. We know you will quickly get the hang of this day, and have a lot of fun with it. This may explain today for me :)
Where do YOU come from??? That is the challenge over at Whimsical Musings this week: WM#226
be inspired by where you come from:

This is a layout I did for LOAD1015 Day8: X marks the spot: Story: Tell about where you live
Product/technique: Use a sewed/dotted line to direct us around your page
Image: An iconic photo of somewhere you have been
this layout is perfect for that challenge :) For the prompt that day I did a layout about the town I live in right now, for 24 years I have lived in South Side (23 years of that time was with my husband :)
The X on the map shows where we live.
Image: An iconic photo of somewhere you have been: This is a postcard I got and it is also some place I've been in my life many times. As a kid Mom took us over each day during the games to watch the action.
As the games are taking place this weekend with the final game tomorrow, this is a good day to be doing the post on this layout. This is the time when South Williamsport is the busiest, during the series. This is something that makes our little town unique too.
Journaling about the city I live in. Thank you for stopping by today and would love to see Where do YOU come from???

The Gift

Good Morning and happy Sunday to you :) Went to a great church service today and feel sunny inside even though it's rainy and gloomy outside, but we are in need of it so I have to endure it. I got through another new week of learning at work, it's been fun and interesting so far. I hope you had a fantastic week this week. So it's the first day of May, that means LOAD begins and I'm excited :) I think I got my new schedule down that I can pick a time of the day to get the layouts done :) yay for me, that took awhile to get into some kind of grove :)
On to the challenge, this Sunday is a new month of challenges for Lasting Memories and it's gonna be a great month to play along for you all :).
Our theme this month?? "All About the Photo's" and this weeks challenge is to use FOUR photo's on your layout.
No more and no less. Only four AND my DT sister Lori has provided an amazing prize for this month !! Play every challenge for more chances to win! Lets get this month started!!!

My layout came from a special day last year, our Great Grandson Waylon's 1st Birthday. Can't believe he's gonna be 2 in a couple of days, wow time is just flying by. Dave got him a special gift and the pictures are from when he was opening up his gifts. Fun to get a cool family photo as well as the gift photos too. But that special one is him looking at his gift, a coin my husband got him and to be saved for later down the road.
This layout came about from LOAD1015: Day 30: Image: A photo taken at floor level and the sketch that day: Bonus Friday Sketch inspiration from Scrapbook.com
9September152015-BoysRuleLWD0_1
So cool when they added sketches to the prompts too for more added scrappy fun :)

This picture is just priceless to me, Waylon looking and trying to figure out what it was. I used the counterfeit kit that month of October for this layout. That is one advantage to make LOAD work for me and get it done that day is with a counterfeit kit :) Did you see the one for this month to forge oh my it's a good one you can check it out here
A close up of the journaling. The silver coin in his hand is a new tradition from us for the Great Grandkids, they will be getting this for their 1st birthday. Something that should go up in value. This is also part of class I'm taking with May Flaum, Tried and True Scrapbook, Lesson #1.
Thank you for stopping by today to see what I'm up to in my little corner of the world :) I've got some laundry and some light cleaning to do you all have a great day today :)

Home is Where The Heart is for a LM challenge

Today is the beginning of the new challenges over at Lasting Memories for the month. We are having some fun with the challenges this month using some Unique National Holidays. Today's challenge is honor of Dec 3rd: National Roof Over Your Head Day :) Scrap about your home or someone elses home or any home in general. Or switch: Scrap about your home during the Holidays. Seeing Christmas lights would work.
Hi you all, this maybe troubling for some and that is not the idea for this layout. When the rain washes away and you take a look at what is left.... In 2004 we had to deal with Hurricane Ivan, he came in a week after Hurricane Jean came in. It wasn't a Katrina, but for this girl it was the worst flooding I have physically faced since I was a youngster seeing Agnes in 1972 and that was a flood that just rocked our area to a core that I still remember, even though our house didn't get flooded that year, we know of many that did. The  prompt on LOAD10: Story: Tell of what you hold fast to for security Product/technique: Use a bold paper as a background frame revealed at the edge of your page Image: A photo that includes a house. This prompt I thought about and thought about and then it just came to me about doing a layout/theme album that I have been wanting to do for a long time: You don't know how secure you feel in your home until something devastating happens to it. Nature has a way to destruct your secured feeling. Thank you for this prompt, you got me going on a project I wanted to do for a long time:
This will be my title layout to a themed album that I want to do. I used my October counterfeit kit for my layout and this layout was based on a sketch challenge last month on a Facebook group.
The top two pictures hold 2 tags that hold the journaling for the layout. Both pictures were taken from the railroad tracks, the only way to see anything during that time as the river filled up our little community area, the rest of the borough was secured by the dike. When they built the dike years ago it didn't extend this far and that is just another long story for another layout :)
The left tag shows the vital statistics and the right tag shows the journaling of what took place that day for us.
The bottom pictures show the house after we were able to come down from the tracks and to check out the damage. There was still lots of water in the yard and the driveway that we weren't able to come up to the house that way. After the holidays I would like to work on this album quite a bit so a large focus for me in the new year. Not always protected from the elements, but it's always a roof over our head. Thank you for stopping by today and seeing what I'm up to in my little corner of the world....
National Roof Over Your Head Day. It is a day of appreciation for the things we have, starting with the roof over our heads. For most of us, a roof over our head signifies living in a house that protects us from the elements, keeping us warm, dry, and cozy. Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as you and I. There are many homeless people right here in our country. Some people live in a cardboard box on the street...... literally. There are millions of people around the world who live in poverty or disaster areas, and do not have a home to keep them comfortable and safe. Spend a few minutes  being thankful that you are not homeless, and appreciating your roof and home today. Also make a contribution to a homeless shelter, so others can come in out of the rain.
Happy National Roof Over Your Head Day!

Unforgettable Day

Hi there I'm back for the last time tonight :) Got my last LOAD layout done for the month! Wow got all 31 done and then some. LOAD31: Sailing in to Home Port! The prompts: Story: Tell of the one thing you would save in a fire that always says “Home” to you. Product/technique:  Paper piece a house element Image: A retro family shot:
The sketch I used for this layout is from My Scraps and More: Sketch #116

I rotated the sketch for my layout because of the pictures orientation.
I had fun working the background for this layout wanted to make it playful. I used from this month's counterfeit kit, current LOAD kit and my stash for this layout.
 My journaling
My title and a fun vellum quote I found in my stash.
See you tomorrow night :) tomorrow is the 1st and that means a new kit to counterfeit!

Me & Gram layout

Another challenge layout to get posted :) This is Tristan and I together spending some quaility time together when we were over at Brad and Katherine's for their Father's Day gathering the day before father's day. It may have been the for the Fathers that night, but this Gram was having her own special moments with Tristan.
This layout came about from LOAD29: Sails and Rigging and from a sketch over at My Scraps & More Sketches. LOAD29: Story: Tell of a time that you improvised something in a creative way Product/technique: Create a banner Image: That includes something blowing in the wind. I had no where to go with this! I spent an hour going through this past year's photos for anything that looked like something blowing in the wind. Nope, I had nothing! I guess it's not something I take pictures of :)  So decided on doing the banner. Okay easy enough so now what am I gonna scrap! So I looked through my monthly sketch challenges folder for a sketch to do:

I found this one over at My Scraps & More Sketches and chose sketch #115 I thought this sketch would work for a banner element, so that was figured out :) So next I went through my printed photos on my craft desk and found these and thought yep this would be the perfect story to tell. So a different process for me for a layout, but it all worked out Boy LOAD is really stretching my comfort zone.
The banner was created with scraps from my current counterfeit kit, the trim I added to my side kit from LOAD this past week and I fussy cut the rose frame from a cutout sheet from DCWV Dear Jane stack pad
The journaling block came from the same stack pad.
I also brought the banner element down into this section of the layout. Another favorite layout, one that capture's a very special moment.
Thanks for stopping by once again today :) Now to go and get today's LOAD prompt done :)

The Castle layout

Good day :) Happy Saturday to you :) I've got a busy day ahead with household things to do, but wanted to try to get the last of these layouts for challenges posted today. Well atleast that is my intention, you just never know what might take place throughout the day :) This layout comes from LOAD25: Cannons. the 3 prompts are: Story: Tell a story with a loud sound described in it. Product/technique: Use an explosion of tiny elements Image: A castle or fort. I think I covered 2 of them very well:
When I seen the prompt of an Image for a Castle, I got to thinking of where I may have seen one. Well we went to Gettysburg, PA in April of this year and with a google search I found that this monument was called the "castle" my layout was born! I printed the pictures and went to my favorite sketch challenging sites to find one that would work and Scrapbook Challenges had the perfect one for this layout :) I will have to keep a hold of this sketch because I think it'll work out for lots of layouts about or Gettysburg, PA trip.  I used sketch #455
455
I found lots of information about the "castle" on line and that middle part of the layout is perfect for that information. I found some pattern paper in my current counterfeit kit for the journaling spot. Created a document that I can reuse over and over again if needed.
The journaling I found online about the "castle" Finding this made me excited about the stories of all the other monuments that I got a picture of.
A close up of the pictures I took of the "castle" A view that I saw from inside through one of the windows. It's a view of the battlefield..
My personal journaling of seeing the "castle". I was more in Awe of this time than what I was when I was a kid seeing it.
The title work, I found this fun Alphabet in my stash to use and this is where I used the 2nd prompt with the explosion of elements. I can see that this scrapbook is going to be a blast to do! I'll learn quite a bit while putting it together. These are my adventures at Gettysburg, PA while Dave was attending to the vendors at the MMCI Winter Convention that the MGCA club hosted. It was great that we were in a city like this so I had something to do. I know we will get back soon to Gettysburg for Dave wants to see the battlefield too. Since I got all the pictures taken this time around it should be more enjoyable just to see the area.
On Sundays during LOAD we can create a BONUS KIT: Sundays the prompt will be your inspiration to pull a quick kit from your supplies! If you create a kit you may post it & be granted “Shore Leave” from doing a page. Or you could do both!
This week create a paperless “Add-On” kit with only dimensional &/or textural elements (flair, buttons, wood veneer, ribbons, brads, fabric, stickpins, bows, resin embellishments, layered dimensional embellishments, etc)
This is the kit I pulled for this past week. I did get to use some of it on this layout and a few others this past week. Thanks for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world....

A Fine Lady layout

Hi you all :) How is the weekend for you. So far my Friday has been very crafty, but I have some LOAD layouts to get posted for challenges yet before the chime of midnight on Halloween night. So this layout came from LOAD19 (Mother Tattoo) they did come up with fun words for each day that related to a pirate one way or another. LOAD19: Story: Tell of a woman with a strong influence in your life Product: Use a feminine color scheme Image: A mother & child:
Katherine is my DIL and she is marred to Dave's youngest boy Brad (my stepson), she has amazed me from the time I met her to now and throughout with all that she has done and accomplished along the way. I got a bit feminine with the layout but with all the male going on I had to accent a bit in that direction too. The combination made for a good layout though.
To help with the layout I used the sketch over at Sketch N Scrap: Sketch #91

I had to adjust the photos slightly to fit my larger photos to within the sketch, that was about the only alteration that I made it, the rest of the layout falls in pretty good to the sketch.
I used the velvet ribbon and the stars for most of the embellishing on the layout. All the papers and the embellishments came from my current counterfeit kit.
When I seen the You Amaze Me chipboard in the CTMH Chalk It Up line I knew that it was perfect for this layout, so I brought in the puffy arrow & stars and the chipboard stars from the same line to embellish the layout.
I used DCWV Mary Jane stack paper that was in the weekend kit I made for LOAD for the title piece and the journaling piece. She is a pretty great mother to my grandboys :)
My journaling and yes I embrace my flaws in my handwriting :) The pictures were taken the day before Mother's Day this past year.
The bottom corner embellishing. This has to be one of my favorite layouts it all seem to come together and I just love a sketch that helps me with layering :) Something I've been working on and trying to get better with. Thanks for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.

Water Receding Layout

Hi you all, I'm back again with another layout :) Yep the end of the month and I got to get these posted and to the right challenge. This layout came about from LOAD18: Story: Tell of a crisis you have been through Product/technique: Use a dark background Image: Where weather is a feature. This layout fits all 3 parts of the prompt. I had started a new theme album this month with a layout about the Flood from Ivan in 2004. The title page has been done for a future challenge so you will see that at a later date. But this is the next 2 pages of the album about the water receding:
I took a single page sketch and used it for both sides for a 2 page layout. I used my current counterfeit kit, one of the fall theme kits. The sketch I used was from Scrap Much?: Sketch-y Friday with Team A | October 16 2015:

The only addition I did was add another photo to the top corner on both pages. My journaling ended up on the 2nd page where the title was to be from the sketch. So the pages mirror each other.
The left hand page: Shows the water receding and what we saw when we took a chance to look around. We had to come down from the railroad tracks to get to as the water still covered the driveway.
The right hand page: Shows alot of what we saw walking around the property. In the top corner picture all the way back in the field was what was left of the skid of pumpkins that we had in front of the garage.
The title work I added dark grey washi tape under the lettering to get it to pop more. Fun sticker I found and wood veneers to finish it off. I also had done some inking to cover up the design on the paper but luckly the photos covered it up but you can see the ink peaking out.
 The bottom corner layering work
The journaling tag that explains the details.
A closer shoot of the pictures on this side of the layout
This side also has some added layering Where the today sticker is you can see in the photo the water line of how high it was out back. We started losing room in the house to bring thing up from the basement so we thought that piling stuff on the picnic table would not get effected. Some did and some didn't as is seen from the water line.
This I think is going to make an interesting scrapbook. We had to take lots and lots of pictures for the insurance company and after about 7 or 8 rolls it got pretty spendy because we had to get double sets too. This helped us in 2004 to decide to buy our first digital camera. This will also provide and idea to future generations of some of the real life we do deal with, something that wasn't capture in 1972 during Agnes that left some old memories for me and at one time we had lots of paperclippings but were not found when I went through Mom's stuff.  Thanks for stopping by once again today
