Hello again :) Not sure how I missed this one :) while I was blogging in the order that I was making the layouts. I made this one from Nicole's Demystifying Clustering class, this was the lesson before the one I just posted. This is my husband Dave and our grandson Zachary having a very special moment. Dave got out a harmonica and showed Zachary how to play it. The 2nd photo is Dave saying "Hey you got it!" Zachary sure was having fun with it.
Love this layout :) Has to be one of my favorite pictures of Dave and Zachary together, it took a long time for Zachary to warm up to Pappy and so glad to see these moments. It was fun to use embellishments from a school kit and use it on a layout like this, learning as we grow in life :) I followed Nicole's layout format that she did on my layout. I added a bit more mist than what she did so I had to back it with cardstock so it wasn't to overly wavy. Yep, I'm learning as I go too.
Isn't this just the cutest picture of these 2 having so much fun :) I used mainly last month's and January's counterfeit kits Color Splash and Brighter Year Ahead for this layout. Papers from the January kit and embellishments from the February kit :) I also used the prompt Challenge #17 - Inspired by photos we love Love this photo :) not sure why it took me so long to scrap it :p
the top corner cluster
the smallest cluster but it had that big chipboard piece so thought that was sufficient :) but I added a couple more pieces to the cluster
The last cluster also includes the title. Love how they are having fun and that made for a good title for the layout too. See you all later this weekend :) Another layout for Calvinball too :)

#1 Turkey Special
LOAD Day 21: Food. So anything about food. This time I went to a new spot of challenges for inspiration :) for my layout. Some how I decided on this Turkey Dinner that Dave and I got Oct. 10, 2015, after a Tractor show we went to for my layout. Then I went over to Whimsical Musings looking for prompt to work from, they have an entire list of fun prompts to get you started here
From that list I found prompt #48 Inspired by Ice Cream and that is what inspired the color scheme of my layout was that bowl of Sherbet on my plate.
Fry's Turkey Ranch is a restaurant that is off route 15, the tractor show we went to on the way home we decided to eat locally, but the one restaurant in the town was so busy and we were so hungry we didn't wait around very long. So traveling back home we came across this billboard of this restaurant, and we both chatted a bit about checking it out. So there you have it in a nutshell :) The reasoning behind us being there :) Surprised that we never had been there before, they have really good food. So this meal is what they are famous for and we had to get it! Wow a plate full indeed and we had a salad with it that came first.
I used the sketch over at Scrapbook Challenges for my layout, sketch #469

With the extra journaling about the history of the restaurant I shifted my photos over a bit more, the elements of the sketch is still there :)
Journaling about the restaurant and how it came to be
That delicious meal :) Got to be the first time we went out to eat and Dave was too full to get dessert and were the slice of pies piled up. The bear greeted us when we walked in :) a quick shot of the front of the menu and a big photo of the dinner. Yum! All Instagram photos :)
My journaling. I used my current counterfeit kit for the alpha for the title, the word strip on the large word strip block and the gold hearts scattered about the layout. The background paper came from last month's kit.
If you like to go with a prompt for a layout you'll have to take a look over at Whimsical Musings blog and they have a facebook group too. I will be using there prompts in March for Calvinball to help spur some stories to tell and to help create so fun layouts

Home
LOAD Day 20 is a Geography prompt. I went with the inspiration of the designer layout today for an idea for my layout. So her theme was city life vs where she lives and I could relate to that. That we live on the outskirts of it just a mile away and you wouldn't know it with 1 1/4 acres of ground that my husband gardens away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Home is the best place to be :) Everyday moments make the best memories, What I love most about my home is who I share it with. I think that sums up very well why Home is the best place to be. We do enjoy the quiet that we get living away from the city, which is most of the time other than soccer season and when Little League takes place then the whole borough can usually hear that :)
I used the sketch over a Scrap Our Stash:

From the list: 1) Doily 2) Ephemera (lots of this) 3) Fawn color , I picked up most of that in the journaling block and also throughout the layout. I really enjoyed this sketch.
Close up the block of photos of the yard and part of the garden
My journaling block. Most of the papers came from last month's counterfeit kit Brighter Year Ahead and a older kit that had all the fall theme pieces in it. I also used the other half of the doily I had just used on a previous layout about the local Library, so glad to use up that scrap :)
The bottom corner element has a picture of the city of South Williamsport, we are a small borough but across the river is the city of Williamsport and that is the city life I really was thinking of :) I do love the city I grew up in, but now I love my home life and surroundings much better :)

I Can't Put My Arms UP!
LOAD day 11. It was a Thursday and the prompt is Language. Lain gave a whole list of ideas to use for this prompt, when she mentioned Movie quotes that you quote all the time had me thinking. This isn't something I quote all the time but it was my favorite quote from A Christmas Story :) opposite of what brother Randy said about he couldn't put his arms down :). I had these 2 pictures of Zachary that resembled this quote very well :)
OMgosh isn't that just precious :) I think this may have been Zachary's first snow experience and Mom made sure he wasn't going to catch a cold, he was a little over a year and 1/2 in this picture. His face says it all. Doesn't he look like Ralphie's kid brother Randy in the movie! One of the best line's from that movie. I used the sketch over at Sketches in Thyme Sketch #183

This was such a fun sketch to use for the layout.
My title spot, since taken these pictures I had added and exclamation point to stress the feeling of the layout.
I loved the Polaroid style frames they had in the sketch and brought them to my layout too. I t gave the photos center stage and the red ring brings your eyes right to those photos :) All the journaling came from what was said on Facebook when Katherine put out the pictures.
Added the fun little cluster of word strips and the punched snowflake with the brad snowflake. I used both my Brighter Year Ahead and my Color Splash counterfeit kits for this layout. I also used this layout for SNC's Old Man Winter layout challenge. thanks for stopping by today :)

Classic Weekend
This is LOAD Day 10 the theme is Culture and the prompt is recreation and the recreation that we do most of the summer is attending various tractor shows. This is first of many pages of this show it was a packed full show for 3 days:
The name of the show is Classic Weekend it's in July in Alum Bank, PA. There is a car show, a cruise in (Dave loved that), parade, tractor pulls, tractor games, even carnival rides and fireworks quite the weekend.
I used Sketch #470 over at Scrapbook Challenges
A fun sketch to use for the beginning layout of a series of layouts from one event. Love that I was able to add those fun film strips for and embellishment cluster on the layout.
I used the film strips for my journaling :) The film strips also worked for a challenge over at SNC
I used a strip of cameras for the bottom border. The picture on the left was the parade getting lined up :) this parade went throught the main street in town it was pretty cool to watch. The right picture is my husband on the left and a friend of ours on the right doing the slow race which you can see by the line my husband didn't win.
The last photo is a line up of some of the tractors that were at the show.Loved using the PL cards peaking out the tops of the photos for some layering. I used my Brighter Year Ahead counterfeit kit for this layout.

Short Line Layout
Hi there :) This layout came from LOAD Day 9 Transportation: Trains. OMgosh where do I begin! We have so many train photos and seen so many train museums and events, so much to choose from. I thought about the trains that we have rode on and that could have went many directions too.... But finally decided on the Short Line ride at The Steamtown National historical site.
This fun ride was something offered throughout the day at specific times :) No extra cost to us and we had an enjoyable ride seeing parts of Scranton that had the old buildings that had their heyday when trains were the best way of transporting long distances. I picked a hand full of pictures to use for the layout that was more about the train ride itself than what was out the windows, will save that for another layout.
I used the sketch over at Sketches in Thyme for my layout, sketch #184

I was really liking all the clustering that was going on with this sketch and it had 4 photo spots :)
A close up of the photos, not the train we road that was out the window, looking at it now I should have gotten one of the actual train we road in, something to remember next time.
The title/date cluster, if you wanted to learn anything about clustering this sketch is a good starting point
The journaling :) I used my Brighter Year Ahead counterfeit kit and some specific papers and embellishments from my stash. Thanks for stopping by once again :)

Sweet Witch for Lasting Memories
Good Morning :) It's a beautiful day here in PA :) I've got clothes hung outside to dry today the 1st time of the spring season (I hope spring is here :) How is it at your end of the woods? Today is a new theme month for Lasting Memories and it's "Welcome to the Oscars!"
To kick off the month, our first challenge is
"Glitter and Glam"
I used Brighter Year Ahead Counterfeit kit for this layout :) I did this at a crop this past month and the first thing I grabbed was the Halloween packet that also included this sheet of word stickers, so used that packet with my counterfeit kit and got most of this past year's Halloween layouts done
This here is my granddaughter Isabelle all dressed up for the Pumpkin Express and Halloween this past year. Andrea did a fantastic job with her makeup :) I knew that I had some of the silver ricrac in my stash so that made it onto the layout to mimic the front of her dress. Lots of fun elements added to the Halloween theme, that I got for a CM sticker pack and an old scrapbook calendar cut pieces for the witch and the shoes :)
Close up of Isa :) I took my page maps book with me to the crop I attended and found a sketch that inspired me to create this layout :) Guess I should get the book out more often :)I used Brighter Year Ahead Counterfeit kit for this layout :) I did this at a crop this past month and the first thing I grabbed was the Halloween packet that also included this sheet of word stickers, so used that packet with my counterfeit kit and got most of this past year's Halloween layouts done

Thank you for stopping by and seeing what I'm up to in my little corner of the world :) Love to see you join us over at Lasting Memories layout challenges where it's all about those layouts!
Pork & Sauerkraut layout
This layout was created from LOAD day #7 : Food. Another open prompt that can be used about anything in reference to Food. There was something mentioned about traditions in the video so that is where I headed. We have a New Year's family tradition of Pork & Sauerkraut. I did some research to find a reason why? Google to the rescue and all the people that post about this rare happening in Pennsylvania.
I used the sketch below for my layout just turned it to the left for what I wanted to do with the layout
This sketch was part of a challenge over at the Crafty Challenge Chicks facebook group :) where we do challenges 2xs a month. It also fell into the SNC group's Topys Turvy challenge for the turn of the sketch.
Lots of sequins for the festivities of the day! CM vellum sticker on the PL card
Some more vellum used here and more sequins
My title spot. Used my circle punch with a PL card for the spot. Not the typical layout but it sure was fun to create.

Horseshoe Curve LO
This layout came about from LOAD Day #6 Geography. We were given ideas for the prompt but pretty well had free rein on what we wanted to do with it. So the first thing I did was looked up the definition of Geography, printed it so I could have on hand. Geography ("earth description") is a field of science devoted to the study of the lands, the features, the inhabitants, and the phenomena of Earth. A literal translation would be "to describe or picture or write about the earth". Well then there is a whole lot of things covered by this definition :) Just about anything that takes place on Earth is geography. So my first layout for this prompt, I went with a man-made phenomenon to change the earth a bit. Our trip to the Altoona Railroad Museum we include the trip up to see Horseshoe Curve.
The 2 page layout was created with my Brighter Year Ahead Counterfeit kit. Across the 2 page spread I used the 1 postcard I bought to use for the title. A flatten penny you buy in one of the quarter machines they have at these places and 8 photos.
The left side of the layout holds the largest part of the journaling. Some information I got out the book the we received during our tour, some interesting facts and some of our own take on the curve.
The right side of the layout holds a few pictures of the area up on top of the curve including a Pennsylvania Engine on display. Also 2 pictures of a working train coming around the curve. It's a sight to see if your in that area of Pennsylvania
The postcard
The journaling I got out of the book.
A tidbit about the Irish laborers that carved out the curve. Up on top our personal journaling, just as we were leaving we seen another train coming around the curve.
The train coming around the curve. They have a schedule posted of the trains coming through so you can see it happening
This is posted at the sight, details of the Horseshoe Curve
The grid of pictures that you see up on the observation deck waiting on the train to come by. Very enjoyable day and we had a wonderful time seeing the museums in Altoona, PA.
