Old German Honey Cookies

Good Morning,
It's been awhile since I've done a recipe swap layout on the blog, thought it would be good to do one today. Next month is our last month with the recipe swap we decided to try to do something different and get together each month and one girl is to be the teacher and will do something crafty with the group so I'm looking forward to that.
This is the swap I did in September and the theme was honey. I chose a very easy layout cause I just loved that pattern background cardstock and I wanted that to show through. The honey jar cut came from the Just Because Cards Cartridge, page 53 is the sticker with the circle edge cut off. The negative I added to the bottom of the recipe paper to emphasis the theme. I look forward to trying the cookies over the Christmas holiday.
Thanks for stopping by today and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.

Don't forget about the big prize for the blog follower giveaway there is a few weeks to go and I'm gathering stuff for the box each day.

Lime Gelatin Salad

Hi ya all, hope your having a fabulous summer so far and for the ones down under I hope winter isn't to bad. I have a recipe for you today from May's swap with the local girls. The theme was Jello/Pudding recipe and I have had this recipe saved for the longest time and finally tried it:
I used Cricut Preserves cartridge for my cuts on the recipe card. The word Lime was cut at 1" with shadow from page 58 and I used the lemon cut on page 59 for the lime fruit because I wanted the whole fruit not just the slice and that was cut at 2.25".
I used various scraps for the die cuts:
the plaid is from Heidi Grace Designs: A Little Bird Tale
the shadow from one of the DCWV paper pads in my collection, not sure which one
the Lime came from Cotton Bloom pack
Not sure of the other 2 papers that made up the lime I found scraps in my green paper drawer but no name to go with it.
The paper the recipe is printed on came from Staples a variety paper pack
And the background paper came from a Basic Grey paper pack I got awhile back at Big Lots.

The recipe is great for a summer get together, have a fabulous day!

I am linking this up to Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog for challenge #170: Fruit Salad

Strawberry Streusel

Good Morning and what a fantastic morning it is. The sun is out and spring is in the air, predictions are 80's by tomorrow, go from winter to summer in just a short couple of weeks, lol. Gotta love PA weather just never know what each week is gonna bring. With spring comes allergy season, that is why I've been missing in action oh the past week was horrible for my allergies, but enough of that and on to something crafty:
This is a recipe that I did for Recipe Swap with the local group in June 2011. The theme was Strawberries, not sure where I got the recipe (need to start noting that in my computer file) but it's a really good muffin recipe.
Details are:
6 X 6 card-looks like strawberry paper I got at the local scrapbook store
The muffin pan is from Cricut-From My Kitchen
The lettering was done with the SCAL program
The recipe was printed on Staples pastel paper pack attached with brads so it can be lifted up to see the directions under the ingredients.

Recipe:

Strawberry Streusel Muffins

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 cups all-purpose flour, unsifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup fresh strawberries or drained, thawed frozen strawberries
Powdered sugar
Instructions:
For streusel topping:
In a medium sized bowl combine 1/2 cup unsifted all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup quick-cooking rolled oats, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. With a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in 6 tablespoons butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Briefly rub the mixture between your fingers to blend in butter. (Leftover streusel can be stored in the freezer and used to top pies, baked fruit or more muffins).
For Muffins:
Heat oven to 400° F.
Grease muffin pan.
In a large bowl, beat together butter (margarine) and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg. Beat until well blended.
In a medium size bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. In a small bowl, combine milk, sour cream and vanilla. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternating with the milk mixture. Beat just until batter is combined. Gently fold in strawberries.
Spoon batter into greased muffin cups. (Fill about two-thirds full). Sprinkle tops of muffins wit the Streusel Topping.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean. Cool muffins in pans on a wire rack for 5 minutes before removing from the muffin cups. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

I'm looking forward to what spring brings, we have a garden and last year we put strawberry plants back into the garden and looking forward to fresh strawberries.
How about you, what do you look forward to in the spring season

Stay tune, I got my pictures back from the printer for project life and will get a few of those pages done and lots of birthdays in April so I'll have a few cards to feature too. Friday I'm in a Project Life blog hop so stop by and check out he hop and some blog candy too. Monday I'll have something related to Mother's Day for the Creative Cutting Challenge blog and for the rest of this week I will fill in with some old projects I've done.
Thanks for stopping by and seeing the view from my little corner of the world

Ethnic Food-PA Dutch Recipe Swap

Happy Saturday to all of you! Here in PA we are finally have some good weather today, sun is out and it's warming up. Thought it would be a great day to hang the laundry out too. Yesterday I got some terrific happy mail! My Jade Core Project Life came in the mail so now I'm set to really get caught up with my PL and you'll see many page spreads soon.

So I best get this posted and get busy cooking for the holiday tomorrow, so since my mind is on cooking I thought I would bring you another recipe from my past recipe swaps. This is from May 2011 the theme was Ethnic Food and I chose PA Dutch since most of my heritage came from some if not most of this group.
I made the card to replicate the simpler of life. The checkerboard background with golden yellow letters and pastel colors for the typed recipe and the included definition of Pennsylvania Dutch which surprised me that Pennsylvania Dutch is neither Amish or Dutch but is German descendants which I have from my Dad's side, fully German. Mom always said she was 1/2 Pa Dutch so I'm assuming it's from the Haines side of the family but as of yet I don't absolutely know, still working on that side of the family.
This pie is really a great comfort food too. Add some cooked chicken and you'll have a supper pie
I wish you all a fantastic day and take the time to be with family if you can, thanks for stopping by and seeing the veiw from my little corner of the world....

Choco-Scotch Crunchies Recipe

Good Morning!
Have you all checked out HSN today. They got specials going on all day in honor of National Crafting Month. Oh I was just watching and I'm so interest in the Silhouette Cameo and I see me taking the plunge here sometime today for it with those flex payments they have. Okay do enough drooling for me this is what I have for you today:
This is from my Recipe collection of swaps I have done with a local group I'm with. This is from April 2011 and the theme was candy. I'm thinking the recipe came from the 1972 State Grange Book (this is my go to book for trying something new), and I wanted to try something new.

The title lettering I did on my Gypsy so I could weld it together, the Choco-Scotch was done with Birthday Bash and Crunchies is from Plantin SchoolBook. The candy was cut from Doodlecharms from page 63 with the charm feature. Looks like I used brown stickles for embellishing the recipe card and dotting the i. I also outline the letters with black marker to give separation from the page.

This was a fun project to do and very enjoyable, the candy didn't turn out to bad neither.

Red Raspberry Muffins

Good Morning All
A recipe for you today:
I belong to a local recipe swap group and we do the swaps as a paper craft. the dimentions of the cards are 6 X 6 so you have plenty of room for the recipe and any embellishment that you want to add. This recipe is from February 2012 and the theme was Red. So first I located the recipe on the internet that I wanted to do.
First I worked on the lettering files that I wanted to use for this recipe in SCAL. Also purchased a cut file collection from SVGcuts. com: Moonlight Garden Party for the raspberry, there are other cool files in this that I will use for other things too.
So all the prep work is done:
All the pieces were cut from DCWV: Cotton Bloom pack I had gotten at TJ Maxx for a steal! Oh they have not had any good deals like that in a long time, lately no scrapping stuff at all. All the words were cut from SCAL except muffins which was cut from My Kitchen Cartridge @ 2". The recipe was a bit long for the card so I folded in half and attached to the card that way. the recipe is held down with a flower type jewel I have in my stash. The background paper is Basic Grey: Vintage tee.
The recipe is:

1½ sticks plus 3 Tbsps of margarine
1-1/3 cups of sugar          2 pinches of salt
1 Tbsp. vanilla                   4 eggs
1-2/3 cups of flour           1-3/4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup of fresh raspberries
1 Tbsp. & 1 tsp. of vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter, sugar, salt & vanilla with mixer until fluffy. On medium speed, add eggs one at a time and mix. Mix dry ingredients together in separate bowl. On low speed, add the dry ingredients in two increments. Mix in oil. Then fold in raspberries. Divide among muffin tins that have been lined with paper. Top with streusel. Bake for 25-28 mins. Or until tester comes out with very few crumbs. Let cool for 10 mins, top with glaze.

                Streusel:
5 Tbsps. of margarine    1/3 cup of sugar
1-1/2 cups of flour           ½ tsp. cinnamon

Mix all together with a paddle attachment on the mixer at a slow speed until it begins to cling together. Or crumble with fingers until it clings together.

                Glaze:
½ cup of confectioners’ sugar
2-3 Tbsp. of milk

Whisk together till smooth. Add sugar or mild as needed to obtain the right consistency, Drizzle over muffins

It's a quick and tasty recipe.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I got cooking up for you today and I hope you enjoyed the view from my little corner of the world....

Ravioli

Hi all,
Boy has it been busy around here, but I did get a chance to put together a recipe layout for a challenge at Lasting Memories:

This was a fun layout to make, it features the recipe and some picks of the day that we made the ravioli. This is on of the family favorites at our house and it's usually done on the weekend, cause of the fun of making them. This particular day we were showing Brad and Katherine how to make them, I got to be photographer for this event so the memory of the day was captured.

Better get going I've got laundry to do, dusting, sweeping and 26 cards to get made for tomorrow's card swap, a full day indeed. Oh yea, my granddaughter's violin rectal in between. Have a great weekend!

Snack Mix Recipe Card

Hi you all I hope your day is going well, mine's not to awful bad. I was thinking of the goals I had made for the blog this year and January will be a tight month for me to try to make something and get it on the blog too. So I thought why not include some of the things I did last year that I never put on the blog to fill in the gaps till I get the hang of preparing each day's blog earlier like a few days before. So here we go:

I have been in a recipe swap with my local scrapbook store (sadly she had to closed, but we still get together at her house). A bunch of us get together and do this swap, this year is the 3rd year, it's been a yummy 2 years. The card I did this past December was White Chocolate Snack Mix:

The theme for December was snacks for the longest time I could not come up with anything that I thought would fit for this, but the Sunday it was due I started perusing the internet and came across this recipe and it looked good (I love white chocolate!) so this was my choice for the swap. Here's what the snack looks like:

Not to bad, a little sweet and a little salty and it mixes up quick, it keeps well too. It took less time to go out and get the goods for and mix it than what it took to the recipe card.
So for the card itself not much to it. 6" X 6" Base (I think I used paper from the Christmas pack that I was working with last month) thought red was good with the holiday in December so I chose that for my base color. The actually recipe is on pink copy paper from Staples done in Microsoft Word 2000 and just hand cut. Snake Mix was printed in the same program on matte photo paper and punched with SU scallop oval. The White Chocolate was cut out of SU vanilla cardstock (I think) and the lettering was done on the gypsy with the gypsy font (I think). Love doing lettering on the gypsy with the weld function it makes it so much easier to use the letters when they are one piece.
I hope you enjoy the recipe and this month recipe is "Baked" theme, I'm thinking of doing something with the word baked in it. For now see you later and have a fantastic day!

March Recipe Swap

Wow another month gone by in our area you wouldn't know it was spring by how cold it's been outside. The last sunday of the month is my local scrapbook shop's recipe swap. The theme this month was anythng green. Now there is a story to what I created. I struggled most of the month trying to figure out what to do for this swap, when I got an advertisment in the mail for a cookbook. I just happen to look through the mailer and came across a free recipe and this it the recipe.

With that title I couldn't have asked for something more green, LOL. So the recipe for making the card is:
6 X 6 inch square, grasshopper came from Stretch your Imagination cartridge and the lettering came for Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I got 12 of these put together for the swap right before the swap finished it just in the nick of time. Didn't turn out to bad, learned from it to put one together before cutting out all the letters, I would have went with a darker green then for the parfaits. I cut out all the needed pieces yesterday. I also work on the prepping 2 other cards for Cricuitscraplifters (yahoo group) March Card Swap. Got one put together tonight and will have the picture here tomorrow or Tuesday. Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
