Thanksgiving Day 2015

Hi you all :) Sorry the blog has been so quiet, between work and LOAD the few extra minutes I have is usually doing something around the house. I do have some big news, the temporary job that I have been working at since June became a permanent job this week as I was hired on full-time :) Will be working the same hours I do now, just now I'll get the company benefits :) God is good :)
This is the last challenge for this month's theme- All About Fall over at Lasting Memories. LM - 316 - Fall Celebrations
Yep I'm one those persons that seem to scrap the events way later than when it's happening :) but 1 good thing is I got it scrapped before this year's Thanksgiving takes place:
These are 2 seperate layout that focus on Thanksgiving Day 2015 that I did add elements that they could work together side by side, since I have taken the picture I have decided to switch the layouts around and the day layout will be on the left and the dinner on the right. I used my current counterfeit kit Flower Power for this layout, with knowing I will be doing a few layouts like this I included 2 fall lines and I got last year I was able to finish up the paper with this layout. The sticker sheets I'm still working through :)
This layout came about from LOAD1016 Day 19: Tell a story about Holiday Food, any holiday. Something specific whose absence would totally spoil the day. I've done a few of these layouts about Holiday foods and when I came across these pictures from last year of Thanksgiving when I was looking for something else another day prior to this day, I made sure to have them handy and wouldn't you know that they ended up being needed after all. Thanksgiving dinner is very traditional at our house with the bird, the gravy, the mash potatoes and cranberry sauce. We also have stuffing and not any out of the box stuffing, I used a bread stuffing recipe very similiar to my Mother's recipe growing up. To me Thanksgiving wouldn't be much of anything is we didn't have that stuffing (it was always my favorite part of the meal besides dessert). I used the sketch over at our yahoo group Scrappin N Chattin for this layout:
And the papers used were a mix of 2 fall lines from Echo Park: Lori Whitlock collections. 1 is very neutral based and the other is a bit more colorful of the colors of Fall. a few closeup photos:
The journaling tells the storuy of our traditional Thanksgiving since my husband and I have been together. We were blessed to have my Mother and Brother over for the first few ones and when Mom passed on, we have made sure that my Brother has always been over and if possible his wife Daleane if she is not working.
The other side of the 2 pg LO comes from LOAD1016 Day 21:Today we are going to tell a story, rebus-style. with some of our fun stash. Using just a few elements to break up  the journaling punctuates it with a little fun! Choose your story & then hunt & gather. Hmmmm now this was an interesting way to take on a scrapbook layout and not one I do in this style very often but a fun way to use up lots of stickers.
Thanksgiving Day 2015 was very unusually warm and sunny, Buddy sure enjoyed the weather and these flowers just hung on and Dave called them Thanksgiving day flowers so the had to be in the layout too. I was able to use up quite a few of the stickers from the one sheet of Fall stickers but have a few more to get used up hopefully before the month is over :)
This sure is a fun way to do the journaling, by adding your own writing or you could add typing and then add playful icons that will go with the story for me I found lots of fun stickers from I (heart) Summer line.
I added pops of color here and there for the sunny warm day we were having, to enhance the memory of that day.
I actually just created the layout from layering the papers and pictures on the layout till it look pretty darn good to my eyes, not something I normally do, but didin't have time that day to hunt up a sketch to use.
The pretty flower and pretty flower stickers to match. So for the 100 Patterned Paper Challenge I've been doing I pulled 6 papers to use on this layout and the acorn paper I found while looking for some pictures and knew I could fit it into a layout this month :) Stash Busting at it's best! I also used up the pack of enamil dots that I had in my Flower Kit and found more to use when I found a baggy of Halloween style paper in my crop bag from a crop in March. Thank you for stopping by and seeing what I'm up too in my little corner of the world. If you would be interested is knowing more about or doing the 100 Patterned Paper.100 (something scrapbook related) challenge we have started a Facebook Group for it here: 100 Pattern Paper Challenge
You have until October 28 to enter any of our October challenges over at Lasting Memories! We can't wait to see what you create!

Use Orange: Celebrate card

Yes the end is near :) This is the last posting for tonight, but for the lateness it is it'll probably show up as tomorrow morning ( only a quarter of an hour left for tonight ). This card came about with some fun elements in my stash. The card came from the PI crop challenge (Donna's Orange Challenge) to use orange. So came in a orange tag and an orange bottle cap:
I used the sketch over at Sketch N Scrap for my card, sketch #61:

What a perfect sketch for my card.
I  used seam binding to make my bow that I hot glued to the hole in the tag. I also hot glued the bottle cap to the doily and added the vellum sentiment to the bottle cap. Finished it off with the glitter tape in a coppery color. The inside of the card was done too, but I guess I didn't get a picture of it before it got sent out for the holiday. The background paper, the tag, the doily, the glitter tape and the bottle cap came from my Feast of Fun counterfeit kit.
Thanks for stopping by today and seeing what I have been up to in my little corner of the world, that I've been crafting this past month :)

Dec Daily 2014: Thanksgiving Day

Hello :) I can't believe I got some of the pages done in my Dec Daily 2014 (forewarned this is a photo heavy post) I captured all of Thanksgiving throughout the day on 3 pages, yep I'm that type of scrapper I guess :) but then each of the picture groups tell their own story. I'm not one that starts my Dec Daily the 1st day of December, mine starts Thanksgiving Day through till Jan 1. For lots of inspiration I look to Let's Dec Daily blog, youtube videos and facebook groups.
The inside cover of my Dec Daily has the Baking part of the day:
The full page: Memories of Thanksgiving growing up is the Turkey and the Pumpkin Pie. This is the one day of the year we do have the roasted turkey and my homemade pumpkin pie
A made a fun little pocket to hold the new dressing recipe I tried, the tag from the turkey and my journaling
A close up of the things in the pocket
The next page: We had gotten alot of snow the day before and our crazy dog (love him!) was trying to play with his basketball in the snow :) I knew I had to add this to the Dec Daily:
The full page :) This was fun to put together and glad to use up some old wintery embellishments in my stash
My journaling and some fun cutouts I got in a prize pack
My crazy dog Buddy :) When you don't have kids around anymore, then the focus of winter fun goes to the dog!
The full page and a glimpse of the next page that I will be keeping the page alone for now Thinking it's a good title page to get into the Christmas magic :)
The Thanksgiving dinner and my brother Steve :) We invite him every year it's a tradition for us that started with inviting my Mom and him since Dave and I got married, we have kept this going with Steve :) We also invite Daleane his wife/my SIL but she's usually working that day. The layer pieces are cut aparts that came from the 6X6 paper pad I have in my current counterfeit kit :) Feast of Fun, the choice of background paper is from the kit too
My journaling and a picture of the phone call we had with my sister Patty done on speaker so we could all have fun chatting with her :) I think we may have started a new Thanksgiving Tradition :) I never thought I was never going to use that phone sticker and when then I came across it! Sweet I can use it here.
Whew :) Thanksgiving Day 2014 documented :) It's gonna be intersting as I go thru this book, if I'm gonna have enough pages for the daily photos :) Some days have 2 or 3 events going on :) Hmmmm I guess I'll have to wait and see :) Thanks for stopping by today and seeing the view from my little corner of the world.
Will you be doing a Dec Daily this year? What approach are you going to be doing?

A Thanksgiving Card for Funday Friday

Hello :) Today is Funday Friday! I've been trying to do alot of projects over the last couple of days for 2 online crops I've been playing along with. But wanted to stop just a moment and do my blogpost for Funday Friday :) over at Jo's Scrap Shack. This week's theme is Anything Goes and A Day for Daisies is the sponsor of the challenge.
I decided to take on a few challenges and wrap them all together for this card:
So this card was created with a little help from Try Stampin' or Not On Tuesday I used their sketch for my card: Sketch # 244 (courtesy of Kaylin). I do like this sketch :) it's a good one to hang on to for other cards
I had some die cuts in my A Feast of Fun counterfeit kit that was perfect for the card and the sketch. So glad that I have the scraps from last month too in a handy box grabbed that dark orange cardstock, put it through the cuttlebug using the divine swirls folder and it just gives a nice added touch :) Besides using the sketch another twist to the challenge was to use glitter: which I used both the glitter tape and the sequins for a nicely bling touch.
The inside of the card:
The inside of the card, I used 2 different corner punches for the corners and I used CTMH Barn Red ink for the edges. I found this fun sentiment on the internet. Thanks for stopping by today :)
This card is also going into the challenge over at PI or Lisa's Thankful Challenge, a Crafty Chicks challenge on FB for colors and using 3 different things from my stash and over at Scrappin N Chattin group for the card of the week.

Happy Thanksgiving for the Funday Friday Challenge

Hi you all and welcome to a Funday Friday Challenge over at Jo's Scrap Shack our sponsor this challenge is Kathryne at STAMPART DESIGNS you can get to her store by way of her blog, got some cool things going on over there for inspiration too, just saw the cutest owl for a Christmas card. But today the theme is Happy Thanksgiving:
This card was so fun to put together this morning, thank goodness for my current counterfeit kit, put to use the papers and the leaves for the card. I think this is a go for their challenge #3 Cards that POP for Create a card with dimension.
First I used Kathryne's LITTLE BEAR PUMPKIN digital stamp and it comes with that cute sentiment too. I colored it up with my spectrum noir and bic markers.
To put the card together I used the challenge sketch that came out yesterday over at Sketch n Scrap's Card Challenge #38

I then got the cuttlebug out and my spellbinder dies out and cut the circle and the scallop in the left over green pattern [paper from last week's card. Used my SU Xlarge decorative label punch for the sentiment, I popped that up on glue dots and the scallop circle I popped up on foam tape. I distressed the embossed leaf paper I had in my kit with vintage photo distress ink also dirtied the edges of the white cuts with the ink too. The pumpkin orange accents came from the DCWV Mango Frost matstack and I used scallop scallop punch for the border edge.
I had these cute leaves in my kit too, it's an old pack of trims from a long time ago and was glad to see I could use it with the sketch.
I even dressed up the inside a bit to send a message to the recipient. Brought in some of the colors from the front and a couple of the leaves too.
I love putting together a quick card and with the right kit and the right sketch it all comes together nicely. Thanks for stopping by today and I'll be crafting most of the weekend since I have off for the holiday next week I can get the house and cooking done then :) Now it's your turn.

One lucky winner will receive a 5 pack of digis of their choice !!

Happy Thanksgiving Card for the CCC

Hi you all, hope you had a fantastic weekend. Today for the Creative Cutting Challenge the theme is Thanksgiving. I decided to get a start on my cardmaking for the holidays ahead.
I used the Thanksgiving Set 1:
Thanksgiving Set One - Click Image to Close
For my card, I cut the silhouette of the pilgrims and the title from my cameo.I love how beautifully the files cut even when I size the files down. This set would also be fun for a thanksgiving layout or even some place-cards for guests at the Thanksgiving dinner. I added Happy from the Alphas from the Simple Stories Harvest Lane sticker sheet. The flowers were punched with Stampin Up Petite Petals Punch and added some gold pearls for the centers. The papers for the card all came from last month's Counterfeit Kit.
I brought in more of the punched petals for a border on the inside of the card and used sequins fr the centers so the card would close better. Now the inside is ready for a note to the recipient of the card. Have you started your Holiday card making yet? Christmas is right around the corner, not even close to being ready for that one, but getting a bit closer to being ready for Thanksgiving....
Off you go and give a try to the challenge we hope you all play along with us:
Rules are simple the project must be new works and  Each project must contain at least one SVG (SCUT, MTC or similar) file die cut and that file must be clearly apparent or you must state what piece of the project is the SVG (or similar electronic) file.  A file name or creator link would be helpful to those viewing your project. NOTE:  A project using only a Cricut Cartridge file is not eligible.  SUBMISSIONS WITHOUT ANY MENTION OF AN ELECTRONIC CUTTING FILE WILL BE DELETED.  Blog owner reserves the right to delete any submission deemed ineligible without notice to entrant.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi all and welcome to my blog, today I design a card for the Creative Cutting Challenge. The theme for the next 2 weeks are Thanksgiving. I decided to make a card
The Thanksgiving card was made with Creative Pointe’s Thanksgiving set 3
Thanksgiving Set Three - Click Image to Close
I used the Horn of Plenty and the Thanksgiving heading for the card with my cameo. The files cut nicely and add a nice touch to the card.
I started with a premade card base I had on hand, The background paper comes from the Alleghany Plum paper pack. The die cut pieces were cut from scraps, love using up the scraps I have on hand. I added gold liquid pearls to the Happy Thanksgiving heading and variety of stickles to bring out more color in the cardstock pieces. The banners are made from fabric ribbon that I have on hand and added a border of golden sparkly trim that I had in my stash. Thankful that my husband had one time worked in textiles now I have all kinds of trims in my stash.
I also decorated brought the background piece into the inside of the card
added a scrap of cardstock for the sentiment or a note, not quite sure yet. I have a special Aunt that will be getting this card.

I see this morning I got over a 100 followers, woohoo! Now that sounds like a party and for you all that means a giveaway, check back this week for the details.

I added the card to challenges:
Cut It Up:Thanksgiving Challenge #31

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving as well, eat and be merry, but most be thankful.

Not Your Typical Turkey

Hi you all and welcome to my blog. I have designed this card for the Creative Cutting Challenge blog.

Created this card from the Thanksgiving 2 set from Creative Pointe. The heading was cut from cardstock from the DCWV Rustic Stack and K&Company Alleghany Plum stack. The turkey was cut from Recollections chocolate lovers pack and the variety of color cardstock from my scrap stash. the background paper and the acorn border came from DCWV Stack 7 pack and came from one sheet of paper. The card base is from the collection of cardstock I have on hand. The corners are fashioning Viva pearl pen-copper. (I still need to work on my application of pearls) I popped up the turkey to give dimension. The colors of the card reminds me of the leaves in their fall beauty right now.

All cuts were done from my SCAL program. The program is sweet for using up scraps:
You can lay it out on the screen and on the mat in the same spots, great use of scraps.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at all the Thanksgiving projects and cards that the team has done and maybe considering doing you own and joining in on the challenge. Thanks for stopping by and seeing my little corner of the world....
